A cartoon stone-age slot in which the player's own decisions are worth more than in almost any other game on the shelf. The bonus asks you to choose, and choosing badly gets expensive. Boulder Bucks is unusually blunt about how expensive, because it publishes six return figures instead of one.

The picture symbols are broader. This is old cabinet art and it looks it, the bright plasticky 3D that Light & Wonder inherited from the Barcrest catalogue rather than drew fresh. Charming in a dated way. The Barcrest badge parked between BALANCE and TOTAL WIN on the bottom bar tells you exactly which lineage this comes from.

The base game is thin and it knows it. Ten lines on a 5x3 grid, carved letters most of the way down, and a wild that can only ever patch the middle means plenty of spins end with three matching symbols and a shrug. Dry stretches are the norm. That is the price of a game keeping most of its return locked inside a bonus.

What changes the rhythm is that the bonus is not a cutscene. Most slots hand over free spins and you sit and watch. This one hands you a choice, then hands you a second choice after you have already seen what the first one paid, and the reject button can feel like a mistake the moment a decent Mammoth run gets binned in the hope of something better. That tension is rare, and it probably carries the game further than the reels ever do.

The rest is ordinary Barcrest. A 5x3 grid, ten fixed lines, stakes running from 0.10 up to 500.00, art from another era, and a base game that mostly waits. The ceiling wants a flag too: the top prize is a flat cash cap of 250,000 rather than a multiple of the bet, which at the 500.00 maximum stake works out at only 500x. That is a weak ceiling on the biggest bet the game will take. Lower down the cap is so far away it never comes into play at all.

Worth the time for the bonus decision and for the rare honesty of a published number. Set the stake to at least 2.00 before the first spin.
