Everything else is built around the Multiplier Wilds, because the base pays are deliberately tiny. Twelve or more elk returns 5x the bet, and that is the best scattered combination in the game. Eight low cards pay 0.10x.

So the wilds carry it, and how their values combine when several land is the decision that shapes the whole game.

The grid is a plank of dark timber slung between two lashed log posts, hung like a trail sign in a clearing, with two enormous pine trunks framing the whole thing. Behind it, ranks of spruce climb toward grey rock faces and snow-streaked peaks. Symbols are painted animal portraits in coloured frames: a bull elk in red, a brown bear in orange, a bald eagle in blue, a cougar in green, with carved wooden 10, J, Q, K and A letters filling out the rest. The elk's antlers are too big for their frame and spill up into the row above, which is a small thing but it does make the top symbol easy to pick out of a busy board.

And about that name. An elk grazes peacefully in a sunlit clearing when the game opens, a green BUY FEATURE plaque hangs off the left post, and there is not a rifle, a hide or a hunter anywhere in it. Nothing gets hunted. The art is competent and about as generic as mountain-forest art gets, the kind of backdrop you either find restful or stop noticing after ten minutes.

Hits arrive about once every four spins, which sounds generous until you look at what most of them are worth. A 0.20x return on a full bet is not a win in any way that registers. It is a slower loss. The balance drains gently instead of dropping off a cliff, and long stretches go by where the board looks busy and nothing of consequence happens.

Seven spins is a short window, and the round lives or dies on when the wilds arrive. One on the opening spin is worth several times the same wild on the sixth, because it works on every board that follows. That makes the retriggers count for more than two or five extra spins sounds like on paper.

Medium-high volatility is the honest label, sitting at the mild end of it. This plays like a game to have running in the background, not one that asks for attention.

Elk Hunter has one thought-out idea in it: multiplier wilds that add instead of multiplying, trading a lottery-ticket top end for a bonus that pays out more predictably. That trade is defensible, and it is why the game feels steadier than most scatter-pays titles sitting at the same volatility.

What sits around that idea is ordinary. Pleasant mountain forest art, tidy symbol work, a bonus that does what it says, and not a lot of reason to come back once the novelty of the portrait grid wears off. Nothing here is broken, and nothing is especially memorable either; after two or three bonus rounds you will probably have seen everything it does.
