Pragmatic Play's Cult, out since March 2026, is not here to be your friend. If you're used to games where you get a steady drip of small wins, you're in for a shock. Cult is a highly volatile beast that takes all the money and hides it behind one single, brutal mechanic. The RTP is 96.51%, the 100x bonus buy keeps that same figure, and the 500x one sits at 96.49%.
The theme is a cult leader in sunglasses and his white-robed followers on a tropical island, but honestly, the only thing you're going to care about are the gold coins.

The Catch with the Gold Coins
Here is the core gimmick of the game: big multiplier coins (ranging from 2x up to 100x) drop onto the board. If more than one lands, they add together. Sounds amazing, right?
Here's the catch, and it's a big one: The multipliers are completely useless unless you also land a winning payline on that exact same spin.
It doesn't matter if a beautiful 100x coin drops right in the middle of your screen. If you don't connect three cheap symbols somewhere on the board to trigger a win, that massive multiplier is just window dressing. It vanishes before the next spin, leaving you shouting at your screen.

The Base Game is a Grind
Because the game expects these multipliers to do all the heavy lifting, the standard paytable is low. Seriously, the base payouts are tiny. Even the wild symbol is the highest-paying symbol on the board, which tells you a lot. The lower-tier symbols (a purple drink, a statue, a credit card, and a poppy flower) won't even give you your bet back for a four-of-a-kind match.
During my session, I landed three stacked wilds and connected a bunch of the purple drink symbols, and it still paid out less than my initial bet. You absolutely need those gold coins to hit alongside a win to make any real money here.
Since triggering the free spins naturally takes forever (about 370 spins on average), you'll be spending a lot of time in this base game.

Buying Your Way In
If you don't want to grind, Cult offers a few shortcuts:
- The Ante Bet (Costs 5x your bet): This massively boosts your chances of triggering the bonus naturally and makes hitting the 10,000x max win way more realistic.
- Standard Bonus Buy (Costs 100x your bet): You get free spins where the multiplier doesn't reset, it carries over. However, it only grows if a coin lands on a winning spin. If a coin lands on a dead spin, it's wasted. I bought this, and it gave me back about a third of what I paid. My multiplier barely got off the ground.
- Super Bonus Buy (Costs 500x your bet): This is where the game actually shines. It forces way more coins onto the board. In my round the poppy, one of the cheapest symbols, turned up far more often than in the base game, so small wins kept coming. But because your multiplier is stacking up into the 50x or 60x range, those tiny 1.6x wins suddenly turn into 90x payouts. I got about 345x back on this one, and you can really see the potential.

What the Super Spin Actually Buys
There is one final option on the menu: a 10x Super Spin that you can play in the base game. It guarantees that at least one gold coin will land on every single spin, and the free spins can't trigger while it's on.
The golden rule still applies: a coin means nothing without a winning payline. My one Super Spin cost 10x, landed a 25x and a 12x coin on a board with no line, and paid nothing.
Cult is a fun, thrilling game if you have the bankroll for high volatility and love chasing big, stacking multipliers. The 10,000x max win actually feels achievable when you're in the Super Bonus. But you have to go in knowing that the base game is going to be a long stretch of dead spins and big coins landing on boards with no line.
