The casino world isn't exactly starving for Greek mythology slots. But in September 2026, Backseat Gaming threw their hat into the ring with Hades Domain. Featuring a fun, cartoony art style and a 6x5 scatter-pays layout, it's a game that wears its inspirations on its sleeve. If you're a fan of Pragmatic Play's Gates of Olympus 2500, you're going to feel right at home here.

But Hades Domain adds a few twists of its own, mostly in how it handles its multipliers, and they make it worth a look.

Hades Domain free spin on the 6x5 grid: a green 10x Soul Multiplier orb in the top right corner, a Bonus coin landing on reel 4, and the progression ladder beside the reels
The whole game in one board: an orb waiting to multiply the tumble, and a coin heading for the ladder on the right.

The Bread and Butter: Tumbles and Orbs

The base game relies on the familiar cascade mechanic. You need groups of matching symbols anywhere on the board to trigger a win. When you do, they pop, new symbols tumble down to fill the gaps, and the process repeats.

The real excitement comes from the multiplier orbs. Any orbs that land during a tumbling sequence are added together at the end of the spin and applied to your total win. It's a proven, satisfying formula, though it does mean your base game spins are mostly just keeping you afloat while you wait for a big orb drop.

An orb is applied once, when the tumbling stops: its value multiplies the tumble total of that spin, and several orbs add up first.

Climbing the Ladder in the Bonus Rounds

The free spins feature is where Hades Domain tries to separate itself from the pack. Landing bonus coins triggers 10 free spins, but there are three different tiers: Normal, Super, and Legendary.

The whole bonus is built around a progression ladder. As you collect coins during your free spins, you level up. Every three coins gets you a few extra spins and, more importantly, raises the minimum value of any multiplier orb that lands. The floor jumps from 10x, to 25x, to 100x, and finally a massive 250x.

Legendary Bonus free spin: a pink Soul Multiplier orb on reel 2 and the tumble total shown times 25 above the grid, the ladder lit up to the 25x level
This is the ladder doing its job. The Legendary Bonus starts at the 25x level, so the orb that lands can't be worth less than 25x.

The different bonus tiers simply dictate where you start on this ladder:

  • Normal Bonus (100x buy-in): Starts at the bottom.
  • Super Bonus (250x buy-in): Starts with 3 coins collected and a 10x orb floor.
  • Legendary Bonus (500x buy-in): Starts with 6 coins collected and a 25x orb floor.
Legendary Bonus free spin with a small red-heart group paying and no Soul Multiplier orb anywhere on the board
And this is the other side of it. Same bonus, same 25x floor, but no orb landed, so the spin paid its symbols flat.

The trouble is, the minimum value applies to the orbs, not the spins. If you roll a free spin and no orb lands, you just get the flat payout for whatever symbols matched. During my playthrough of a 500x Legendary bonus, almost my entire return came from just a handful of spins where an orb actually dropped. The rest were just small, unmultiplied filler wins. It can be incredibly tense (and a bit frustrating) to reach a high multiplier floor, only to have the game refuse to drop an orb.

High-Risk Special Bets

If you like to force the action, the game offers two special spins.

  • Special Spin 1 (50x your bet): Guarantees at least one orb will land.
  • Special Spin 2 (250x your bet): Guarantees a red 250x orb.

A word of warning on that 250x spin: the math is brutal. Because you are paying 250x your bet upfront, your tumbling win before the orb is applied needs to equal at least your base stake just to break even. If you pay for the feature and only land a tiny 0.5x win, that 250x orb is only going to return half of what you paid to spin it. It's the ultimate high-risk, high-reward gamble.

Hades Domain buy menu at a 1.00 bet listing Bonus Boost at 2.00 and Special Spin 1 at 50.00, each with its volatility label
The special bets sit in the same menu as the bonus buys, and they are charged on every spin you leave them on, not once.

How Does It Compare?

It's impossible not to compare this to Gates of Olympus 2500. Both share the scatter-pays, tumbles, and summing orbs. However, Gates has a slightly higher RTP (96.52% vs. Hades Domain's 96.01%) and a much higher max win (25,000x vs. Hades Domain's 15,000x).

Interestingly, Backseat Gaming released another slot just eight days after this one called Moon Dynasty. While Moon Dynasty uses a traditional 5x5 payline setup, it shares the same 96.01% RTP, the same 2x Bonus Boost and the same 100x and 500x prices at either end of its bonus menu.

Hades Domain is a highly volatile, entertaining slot. It sticks to a known formula, but the ladder progression system in the bonus rounds gives you a clear, exciting goal to root for. Just be aware of the volatility, buying those higher-tier bonuses or special spins offers absolutely no guarantees, and the Greek Gods can be pretty unforgiving if the orbs decide not to drop.

Hades Domain splash screen with five of five volatility skulls and cards for the Soul Multipliers, the Bonus symbols and the 15,000x max win
The game puts its own top win up front: 15,000x and the full five skulls of volatility, well short of the 25,000x on Gates of Olympus 2500.
