Thunderkick released Temple of Akhet in June 2026, and I know what you're thinking: another ancient Egyptian scatter-pays slot. But before you roll your eyes, the mechanics here actually bring something fresh to the table, specifically a multiplier ladder that builds a permanent floor during free spins.

The Multiplier Floor and Free Spins
The base game is standard scatter-pays: clear winning symbols, drop new ones in. But the real draw is the multiplier ladder. Instead of just doubling, it climbs using a Fibonacci-style sequence (1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, and so on) with every consecutive cascade.
To help you climb, Thunderkick included two different wilds:
- Golden Scarab: When it's part of a win, it locks the winning symbols for Sticky Respins. As the grid fills up, it pushes the ladder higher with every cycle.
- Sun Disc: This is a booster that, when it joins a win, jumps you straight up the ladder by one to three steps.
If you land four scatters, you get 12 free spins, and this is where the game gets genuinely interesting. During the bonus, every step added by a Sun Disc permanently raises your multiplier "floor." So, instead of dropping all the way back down to 1x at the start of each free spin, you fall back to your new safety level. If you can land three more scatters, you'll retrigger for 5 extra spins.

Buying In: Costs and Quirks
If you have access to bonus buys, triggering the round directly will cost you a standard 100x your bet. If you prefer grinding it out, you can switch on one of the three BET+ Bonus Boost modes, which cost 1.3x, 2x or 3.2x your stake per spin, to make a natural trigger 2, 5 or 10 times more likely.

There's also BET+ Scarab Wild, a slightly quirky mode at 12.5x your bet per spin that guarantees a Scarab wild on the first drop. A word of warning, though: that Scarab still needs to connect with seven matching symbols anywhere on the board to actually trigger the respins. It's a bit of a gamble, and it can definitely result in dead spins if you're unlucky.

My Experience: A Tale of Early Sun Discs
I bought the 100x bonus, and I walked away with about 160x my bet, roughly 1.6 times what it cost.
My second spin really showed off how this game's biggest wins are built. A Scarab wild locked a group of gems, and the respins drove the multiplier up to 34x all on their own. Then, a Sun Disc landed, bumping the multiplier to 55x. That single spin paid out 138x my bet and, crucially, lifted my permanent floor to 2x. A few spins later, starting from that 2x floor, I ran a chain back up to 34x, paying 22x and raising the floor to 3x.
It was a great run, but it made one thing very obvious: this bonus lives or dies by landing Sun Discs early. If you don't build that floor in your first few spins, the later spins start from 1x and have to climb the whole ladder again.

How Does It Compare?
Temple of Akhet is a standalone title, but it fits right in with Thunderkick's other highly volatile, 10,000x max-win cascading games.
- Compared to Hot Potato: Battleground, Akhet feels a bit more global. Hot Potato uses a 7x7 grid and leaves multipliers on specific cells rather than giving you a universal safety floor (it also has a slightly higher RTP at 94.23%).
- Compared to Greedy Pumpking, due in October, Akhet has a slightly more expensive bonus buy (100x vs 80x).
- It also has nothing like Shark Park, due in November, which sells a crazy 500x buy that starts the bonus with an x100 wild.
The closest rival on the market is Pragmatic Play's Fury of Anubis. Both are 6x5 Egyptian scatter-pays with a 10,000x cap. Pragmatic's game has a significantly better RTP (96.52%) and its multipliers double rather than adding together. However, Fury of Anubis resets its multiplier to the same start value on every free spin, and only extra scatters raise it, where Akhet's floor climbs with every Sun Disc step.
If you care strictly about RTP, Fury of Anubis is the better math play. But if you like the feeling of progression and the tension of building a permanent multiplier floor so your final spins actually mean something, Temple of Akhet is a really clever, highly volatile alternative. Just cross your fingers for those early Sun Discs.
