The Neighbor Wars by Betsoft Released

Betsoft launched The Neighbor Wars on May 7, the newest entry in the studio THE Series alongside The Auction House and The Jealous Ex. Each game in the series is built around a different story premise with its own mechanic twist - this one runs on suburban grievance, two cartoon houses (yellow and teal) glaring at each other across a wooden fence, lawn mowers and tipped-over coolers scattered through the yards.

The Hold & Win trigger is the unusual piece. Most slots in the genre need a fixed number of Bonus symbols. This one wants 6 Bonus symbols OR 5 Bonus plus one BOOST symbol. The BOOST is what separates the game from the usual Hold and Win formula - a firework rocket that lands during base play or inside the bonus and permanently upgrades every Bonus coin value on the grid, including coins that land afterward. It fires once per round, so the earlier it shows up, the better the round runs.

Mystery Bonus symbols (cardboard boxes) appear inside the round and transform at the end into one of four jackpot tiers - Mini 20x, Minor 50x, Major 150x, Mega 2,000x - or into another Boost if the round has not been boosted yet. Fill all 15 grid positions and you collect the Grand at 10,000x.

Free Spins kick in from 3 scatters on reels 2 through 4 for 8 spins, and the interesting twist is that the low-pay symbols get stripped out entirely. Overturned trash cans, GO AWAY doormats, beehives, garden tools - all of them disappear from the reels. Every spin in the bonus is premium-symbol-only: burly neighbor, old man with glasses, cartoon BBQ grills, purple-booted cats, pug dogs. Hold and Win can also retrigger during Free Spins, and with Stacked Mystery symbols still active, dense reel coverage on good spins becomes routine.

The Beer Rush random event is the third lever. In base play and in Free Spins, the game can force Bonus coins onto the reels until six appear, guaranteeing a Hold and Win trigger. It overwrites whatever was in those positions before wins resolve, so a spin that looked dead suddenly launches the bonus.

Numbers: RTP 96.04%, high volatility, 25 fixed paylines on a 5x3 grid, max win 12,000x. The Buy Bonus is available at 65x stake for instant access, randomly triggering with either 6 Bonus symbols or 5 plus a Boost.

Honest gripe? The Mega-vs-Grand gap is enormous - Mega caps at 2,000x but the Grand jumps to 10,000x for a fully filled 15-position grid. That is a huge ask, and most rounds will settle somewhere between Major and Mega. But the THE Series framing is genuinely fresh for an industry that mostly ships standalone slots, and the BOOST mechanic doing real damage to the math (not just a cosmetic upgrade) makes a meaningful difference round to round.
