The Megaways Upgrade

The original 5 Lions and its immediate follow-ups (Gold, Dance) are early Pragmatic Play designs - competent but unremarkable, all rated 5. The series found its identity with 5 Lions Megaways, which brought the variable reel mechanic to the franchise and bumped both the gameplay rating and the session feel.

Megaways 2 pushes further with an 8 rating and 8,000x ceiling at very-high volatility. Reborn takes a different path at the same volatility tier but caps at 5,000x. Both 2025 entries are strong, but the gap between them and the pre-Megaways games is wide enough that the earlier titles feel like prototypes.

Every 5 Lions entry runs exactly 96.50% RTP. That consistency is unusual - most series shift RTP between entries. It means the difference between a 3,520x cap on the 2018 original and an 8,000x cap on Megaways 2 is entirely about volatility distribution, not house edge.
