Tinkerbot breaks from ELK Studios' usual payline and ways-to-win formats. This is a cluster-pay game on a 5x5 grid that expands to 7x7. Five or more connected identical symbols form a winning cluster, and only the largest connected group pays. The 30% hit frequency makes it one of ELK's most active base games - clusters form often enough that the botbox system stays fed.
Each winning cluster generates a botbox in one of the cleared positions. When three or more botboxes appear simultaneously on the grid, they open one at a time and each releases a random feature: Wild, Hot Wild (converts random symbols to Wilds), Multiplier (adds to the global multiplier then becomes Wild), Expand Grid (+1 column and +1 row), or Multisymbol.
The Multisymbol is the unusual one. It's a stack of identical symbols on a single position that counts as a cluster by itself. When part of a winning cluster, it explodes all non-winning payout symbols in proximity. Clear enough of the grid and you hit Botfrenzy - removing ALL payout symbols awards random extra botboxes on top of cluster-generated ones.
Button symbols trigger either Absorb (collects all copies of an adjacent symbol into one Multisymbol stack) or Transform (upgrades all copies of an adjacent symbol to a higher-value type). Both reshape the board before the next evaluation pass. The global multiplier sits on a TV-screen display and applies to every cluster payout. Multiplier botbox symbols feed it, and it never resets during a game round.
Three bonus symbols trigger 7 free drops with persistent botboxes, multiplier, and grid size between drops. Four bonus symbols trigger the Super Bonus: 9 free drops starting at maximum 7x7 grid with a boosted multiplier. That 7x7 grid means 49 positions for cluster formation versus 25 in the base - nearly double the surface area. X-iter ranges from 1x to 500x (Super Bonus guaranteed). RTP is 94.0%, ELK's current standard.
