Ashoka drops you into a dark Indian jungle temple on a 6x8 grid where not every position is in play from the start. Blockers fill the edges, and they only disappear when a winning symbol lands next to them. That means the playfield opens up gradually through avalanche wins, and early spins on a fresh grid feel sparse. Eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid pay out - no paylines, no clusters, just raw symbol count.
The paytable scales from 8-of-a-kind up to a theoretical 15-of-a-kind, so more open positions directly translate to bigger scatter wins. At the top end, 15 premium symbols pay 10,000 coins on a 100-coin bet. Getting there requires multiple avalanche cycles to clear blockers and keep the chain going.
Two types of multiplier symbols land on the grid. Regular Multipliers add their value to a global Win Multiplier when they sit next to a winning symbol, then get removed with the winning cluster. Values range from x2 all the way up to x100 per symbol.
Super Multipliers work the same way but with one critical difference - they reactivate on every subsequent avalanche and carry between free drops in the bonus game. Land a x50 Super Multiplier early in the bonus and it stays active for the entire round. That single mechanic is where the 25,000x ceiling lives.
Wild symbols appear as 1x1, 2x2, or 3x3 blocks. A 3x3 Wild counts as 9 individual wilds for scatter purposes, which is a big deal on a pay-anywhere grid. Charged Wilds last up to 3 winning combinations before disappearing - useful for sustaining avalanche chains without needing fresh wild drops every cycle.
Three active Bonus symbols trigger 10 free drops. "Active" matters here - Bonus symbols start inactive and only turn on when a winning symbol lands vertically adjacent to them. So you need wins near the bonus symbols, not just the symbols themselves.
During free drops, Super Multipliers from the base game carry in and persist between drops. Retriggering is possible: 2 active bonus symbols add 5 more drops, 3 add another 10. The combination of persistent multipliers and retriggers is where the game's biggest wins come from.
The buy-in options cover a wide range. Bonus Hunt at 3x gives a higher trigger chance. Charged Wilds at 10x makes every wild semi-sticky. Super Multiplier at 25x guarantees one persistent multiplier symbol. Buy Bonus at 100x goes straight to free drops. Super Bonus at 500x enters free drops with a guaranteed Super Multiplier already active.
That 500x Super Bonus is steep. A single guaranteed Super Multiplier doesn't sound like much until you remember it persists through every free drop and every avalanche within those drops.
ELK Studios runs all their newer releases at a fixed 94.0% RTP with no operator-adjustable tiers. On one hand, you always know what you're getting. On the other, 94% sits below the 96% industry standard by a noticeable margin, and there's no higher-RTP version to seek out. The hit frequency of 23.1% means roughly one in four spins produces a win, though many of those will be small avalanche starts.
Ashoka launched the first game in what became a two-part series - Ashoka Eternal followed in 2024, swapping scatter pays for cluster mechanics. The original remains the more atmospheric of the two, with its gradually opening grid and that jungle temple setting where symbols literally push through stone blockers.
