Bullets and Bounty plays on a 5x5 grid with 18 paylines, which already makes it bigger than Hacksaw's standard 5x4 layout. The core mechanic is DuelReels - when a VS or Bounty VS symbol lands as part of a winning combination, it expands to cover the entire reel and acts as a Wild. Then a duel plays out between two characters, each carrying a multiplier. The survivor's multiplier (ranging from 2x to 100x) applies to all wins on that reel.
Two types of duels exist. Outlaw DuelReels pit two outlaws against each other - one wins, one loses, and the winning multiplier sticks. Bounty DuelReels are more interesting. Katherine "Quick Draw Kate" O'Callaghan faces an outlaw, and if she wins, she collects the outlaw's multiplier and triggers another duel. Up to 3 consecutive duels on a single Bounty DuelReel, with the multiplier building each time. When Kate finally loses, whatever she accumulated applies to the reel.
Multiple DuelReels on the same spin add their multipliers together before applying to wins. Wild symbols also pay well on their own - 30x for five of a kind.
Three scatters trigger True Grit: 10 free spins with a gamble option. The gamble is a revolver spin with 6 chambers. Two chambers upgrade you to Four Shots to Freedom. Two pay 5x your bet. One pays 10x, one pays 20x. So you have a 1-in-3 chance of upgrading the bonus and a 2-in-3 chance of taking cash instead.
If you skip the gamble and play True Grit straight, the bonus adds progressive Bounty Hunter multipliers - Kate's latest winning multiplier carries over as her starting multiplier for the next Bounty DuelReel. That snowball effect gets stronger as the bonus goes on. Retriggering adds 2 spins for 2 scatters or 4 for 3.
Four scatters (or a lucky gamble) start this mode. A Bullets and Bounty Bar tracks how many times Kate wins her duels. Only Bounty VS symbols appear during regular spins here - no Outlaw DuelReels.
After 2 Bounty Hunter wins, you reach Level 1: 3 extra free spins plus a DuelSpin guaranteed to have at least 2 VS symbols. After 3 wins, Level 2 guarantees 3 VS symbols on the DuelSpin. Level 3 needs 4 wins for 4 VS symbols. Level 4 needs 5 wins and delivers a DuelSpin with all 5 reels showing VS symbols - every reel becomes a DuelReel with its own multiplier on a single spin.
The Hidden Epic Bonus, Go Ahead Make Her Day (5 scatters), starts at Level 1 from the first spin and adds progressive multipliers on top. FS symbols stop appearing, so no retriggering, but the combination of guaranteed DuelSpins and escalating multipliers makes this the most explosive mode.
The visual treatment leans dark. Dusty desert town at sunset, storm clouds rolling in, cacti framing the grid. Warm browns and oranges with fiery red accents. Kate stands at the ready with her revolver "The Last Word" - the same weapon used in the gamble animation. Character portraits serve as high-paying symbols with a weathered, gritty texture.
Buy options include BonusHunt FeatureSpins (5x trigger rate), Bad Blood FeatureSpins (guaranteed 2+ VS/Bounty VS per spin), Draw or Die FeatureSpins (guaranteed 1 Bounty VS per spin), plus direct buys for True Grit and Four Shots to Freedom.
Base game payouts are modest - the top standard symbol pays 10x for five of a kind. The game funnels all its potential through DuelReels. Spins without VS symbols are quiet, and the 5x5 grid doesn't change that. But when duels fire, the expanding wilds and stacking multipliers compound fast. The 20,000x ceiling is one of Hacksaw's highest, and the multi-level bonus structure gives you genuine paths to reach it. This is the first entry in the Bullets and Bounty series, with an Epic version also available for players who want even steeper volatility.
