Cold As Ice Dice Slot Review

A frozen fruit machine where the whole payoff comes from flooding the reels with one single fruit. Five reels, three rows, five fixed lines. Instead of a bonus round, Cold as Ice Dice asks for volume: nine matching cherries, melons, lemons or plums across the first three reels and every win on that spin triples.

The Dice part is not a theme. BF Games added a small white dice pip to the corner of every symbol so the title can run in markets that license dice games but not slots, Belgium above all. Underneath it sits Cold as Ice from 2017, same maths and same paytable, wearing an April 2026 release date.

What that leaves is bare even by classic-slot standards: no wild anywhere in the symbol set and no bonus round of any kind. The star scatter pays where it lands, and that is the end of its job.

The reels sit on a deep navy panel with icicles hanging off its top edge, floating in a pale turquoise field of drifting snowflakes. Two crystal shard formations flank them, silver metal set with sapphires, angled like frozen wings. The logo overhead is carved from blue ice with silver filigree curling out of the letters, and it is the best piece of art here by some distance.

Symbols are the standard bar-top set rendered fat and glossy: a seeded watermelon slice, a lemon, a purple plum, cherries on a green stem, a gold bell with a jewelled blue band, a pair of red casino dice, and a frosted 7 with a crackled-ice texture running through it. Every one of them carries that little white dice face in the lower-right corner, and once you notice it on all eight symbols it is hard to unsee. It reads as a sticker, not a design choice. The red of the cherries and the dice is the only warm colour on the whole board, which does at least suit a game called Cold as Ice.

A 9% hit rate works out to roughly one paying spin in eleven, and with nothing to build toward, the dry stretches have no scenery. No meter filling, no near-miss on a bonus to keep a player leaning in. The reels stop, nothing lines up, you press again. Sessions move quickly because of it, since each spin resolves in about a second and there is no feature to sit through.

The tension, such as it is, comes from watching one fruit start to crowd the left side of the grid. Two reels solid with plums and the third still spinning is the only moment this game manufactures, and it happens often enough to matter. Most of the time reel three breaks it. When it doesn't, the win lands with almost no ceremony, and that is probably the biggest weakness: the game reaches its best moment and barely acknowledges it.

Judged as what it is, a jurisdictional reskin of a nine-year-old five-liner, it does its one trick well. The fruit-flood multiplier is a smarter idea than the genre usually manages, and the 1,002x cap it produces is at least honest about what a game built this way can pay. BF Games publishes 1200x on its own catalogue page, which doesn't match the figure the game itself prints; the lower number is the one to plan around.

What it can't escape is that 2017 was a while ago. The art has aged, the pacing has no shape to it, and high volatility with no feature to wait for is a hard sell now. Strip the dice pips off and this is the same game BF Games shipped nine years ago, one clever mechanic and nothing standing behind it.
