Epic Clover 40 Slot Review

A lucky-clover fruit machine where one symbol does nearly all the work. The four-leaf clover only turns up on reels 2, 3 and 4, and when it lands it stretches to cover that whole reel from top to bottom. Forty fixed lines cross the 5x4 grid. A single wild middle reel sits in the path of most of them at once.

Everything around it is standard Fazi retro. Red sevens on top, golden bells beneath them, then melons, oranges and the small fruit filling out the bottom tiers. The other symbol worth watching is a gold star that pays from wherever it lands rather than triggering anything, worth about 100x your stake for five, and that amount gets added to your line wins rather than replacing them.

There is no bonus round to chase and no buy button (the separate Epic Clover 40 Booster build is where that side of the family lives). Underneath the base game instead: three mystery progressives, Gold, Diamond and Platinum, plus a red-or-black gamble on any win.

Green on green. The reels sit against a blurred field of out-of-focus four-leaf clovers, each of the five reels boxed in its own dark brown panel with a thin gold frame, and a glowing gold 40 hangs in the empty space either side of the grid as a running reminder of the line count. The title above the reels uses the same warm gold gradient as the bells.

The symbol art is the well-worn Fazi fruit set, drawn cleanly and lit with a lot of gloss: faceted red sevens outlined in gold, bells with a highlight running down the shoulder, watermelon halves, oranges with a wedge cut out of them, blue grapes resting on a green leaf, then lemons, plums and paired cherries. The clover wild is the only piece with any personality, a thick cartoon shamrock with Wild written across it in turquoise. Two star scatters share the reels, one lettered in red and one in blue, which is harder to read at a glance than it needs to be. Along the bottom strip the jackpot meters cycle, and the number changes colour with the tier, gold for Gold and cyan for Diamond.

Sessions here run flat and fast. The small fruit pay a quarter of your stake for three, so the balance dribbles rather than jumps, and plenty of spins return less than the bet that bought them. That is the trade on a medium-volatility machine with nothing to save up for: money moves in and out constantly and it takes a long dead stretch to properly hurt.

The tension, such as it is, lives in the middle three reels. Everything else is background until a clover shows up, the spin snaps into focus for a second, and then it is done and you press again. With no feature to build toward, the natural rhythm is short autoplay bursts rather than a long deliberate grind, and the jackpot meter along the bottom is the only thing lending a two-hour session any shape at all. For my money that is a thin hook, though plenty of people play classics precisely because there is nothing to keep track of.

Fazi built this for the cabinet crowd and it plays like it. One good idea, a clover that fills a middle reel while 40 lines run through it, one honest scatter, and a jackpot meter doing the job a bonus round does elsewhere. Restricting the wild to three reels instead of one is what keeps the thing from going inert, and 96.502% is a fair return for the category.

Holding attention is where it struggles. Nothing unlocks, nothing collects, and Fazi has never published a max-win figure for the base edition, so a session ends when you decide it does rather than at any natural stopping point. The 100-line edition spreads the same clover across more lines, and the Booster builds sell you the expanding wilds outright. This one is the plainest member of the family, which is either the point or the problem.
