Stacked Symbols Slots
90 free demo slots with stacked symbols
Stacked symbols land on the reels in blocks, filling several spots in a row with the exact same symbol. This works just like stacked wilds, but it applies to regular paying symbols instead. If a high-value symbol covers an entire reel and lines up with matching symbols next to it, you win on every payline that crosses that block at the same time.

How stacked symbols actually work
Stacked symbols are all about taking up space. If a high-paying symbol fills a whole column on a standard grid, it guarantees a match for any payline passing through it. If you manage to line up two or more of these full reels, the payouts add up fast across all those lines. It means you can get a massive payout from a single regular spin, without even needing to trigger a bonus round.
But that is pretty much all they do. Stacked symbols do not usually mix with other features. You will not find them feeding into collection meters or building up multipliers. A spin is either a big hit or it misses completely. This gives these games a very different feel compared to tumbling reels or hold-and-win slots. You are just hoping the reels line up perfectly right then and there, rather than working toward a win over a few spins.
A different approach with StackWays
Hacksaw Gaming changed things up with their StackWays mechanic, which you can find in games like Mayan Stackways and Ronin StackWays. Instead of relying on regular paylines, these games pay out based on how many matching symbols are stacked on reels next to each other. The game just counts the matching spots. This means you do not need the symbol to cover the entire reel to get a payout.
Because of this, the games play quite differently. Regular stacked symbols require a perfect setup across full columns to pay well. StackWays gives you credit for partial matches, which leads to more regular, medium-sized wins instead of the usual all-or-nothing style. These games also tend to have higher maximum win limits because Hacksaw added multipliers to the mix, something you rarely see with classic stacked symbols.
