Mancala Gaming is taking us back to the plains with Buffalo Goes Wild II, an October 2026 release that leans heavily into the popular North American wildlife theme. If you're a fan of hold-and-win mechanics, this game will feel pretty familiar. Its bonus works much like Microgaming's Mithai Madness 10000x, with three feature pots above the reels, but here the symbol that starts the round picks which of three distinct flavors you get.

Buffalo Goes Wild II respins round with buffalo coins held across the 5x3 reels, a single Jackpot symbol on reel 4 and the Multiplier and Jackpot pots glowing above
Every coin stays where it lands and the count resets to three each time a new one drops, so the board fills up slowly. One Jackpot symbol on its own pays nothing, though, you need two for the Mini.

The Pots and the Respins

The base game revolves around three collection pots sitting above the reels: Multiplier, Coin Booster, and Jackpot. As you play, special symbols worth up to 50x your bet land on the grid and feed into these pots (though it's worth noting the rules never say what a fuller pot actually does, the levels are simply saved between spins at each bet level).

Any special symbol can trigger the Respins Bonus, and the specific symbol that triggers it decides which of the three modifiers you get.

Once you're in, it plays like a standard hold-and-win: you get three spins that reset every time a new coin or symbol drops. The twist is the active modifier. Multipliers can boost a single coin by up to 10x; Coin Boosters add a flat value to every coin on the board; and Jackpot symbols build toward fixed prizes, maxing out at the 3,000x Grand if you collect five.

I went straight to the bonus buy menu, which lets you purchase the Coin Booster for 60x, the Multiplier for 80x, or the Jackpot for 120x. Buying a feature guarantees that specific modifier, but you still have a chance to trigger the other two alongside it. I bought the 120x Jackpot feature, and luckily, the Multiplier feature lit up as well. Over about a dozen respins, a 4x multiplier turned a standard 7x coin into a nice 28x win. I only landed one Jackpot symbol, which paid nothing (you need at least two to win the lowest tier), but I still walked away returning just under my initial buy-in. It felt like a pretty fair run.

A x4 Multiplier diamond on reel 1 sending its multiplier to one coin on reel 2 while a larger coin beside it stays unchanged
The Multiplier symbol picks one coin and multiplies just that one. The big coin right next to it keeps its face value, so where the x4 lands matters more than how big it is.

The Free Spins

There's also a traditional Free Spins game, which you can trigger naturally or buy for 120x. You get 10 spins, and the big draw here is that standard wilds are upgraded to Wild x2 symbols. If two of them land on the same payline, they multiply each other. You can't retrigger more free spins because scatters are removed from the reels, but you can trigger the hold-and-win respins from inside the feature, which is a great touch.

I bought the Free Spins feature to see how it played. While I didn't get lucky enough to trigger the hold-and-win round, the doubling wilds really pulled their weight. They landed on about half of my spins, and at one point, two of them connected to turn a mediocre line hit into a solid 40x payout. I actually finished the round slightly in profit.

So, how does it stack up? As a sequel to the 2023 original, it feels a bit like a lateral move. The original Buffalo Goes Wild had a 5,082x max win, but this sequel drops the cap to 3,000x while rebuilding the mechanics around the three pots.

To be fair, a 3,000x limit feels a little low for a modern hold-and-win. When you look at Mancala's other games, like Majestic Wolf at 22,000x+, or its closest rival, Mithai Madness 10000x, the cap here is noticeably lower. In fact, if you manage to collect the five Jackpot symbols, you instantly hit the game's hard cap.

A lower max win isn't automatically a bad thing, but don't read it as a gentle game: the paytable is flat and most of the money sits in the respins coins and jackpots. While high-rollers hunting for massive payouts might be turned off by the cap, the core gameplay loop is genuinely engaging. The modifiers make the hold-and-win feature feel fresh, the multiplying wilds in the free spins offer solid potential, and the bonus buys feel reasonably priced. It's a fun, well-designed ride through the prairie, even if it isn't swinging for the fences.

Free spin with two Wild x2 buffalo symbols on the reels and a line win banner across the middle
Two Wild x2 on the board and a line that runs through one of them pays double. Get both on the same line and they multiply each other, which is where the free spins actually earn their price.
