Released back in October 2025, Microgaming's Cash Blitz Extreme wraps a flashy neon gold-and-money theme around a classic cash-collect layout. If the mechanics feel familiar, that's because Bison Fire Charge, which came out eight months later, reads like the same engine in a new theme.

I recently put it through its paces, and while it has some really strong features, there's a specific quirk with the bonus buys that players should watch out for.

The base game is all about the multiplier meter sitting on the left side of the screen. It starts at 1x and ticks up by 0.5x every time you land two "tease" scatters on the first five reels, maxing out at 5x. Whatever multiplier you build gets applied to your eventual bonus round, which is a great incentive to keep spinning.

However, there is a downside if you're someone who likes to use the Bonus Buy feature. The standard buys cost 30x, 50x, 80x, and 120x your bet, but these prices scale with your meter. During my session, my meter randomly bumped up to 1.5x, which instantly inflated the top-tier bonus buy to 180x. It's a bit frustrating, as it feels like your hard-earned multiplier has to work overtime just to cover its own inflated price tag.

When you land three or more scatters, the game gives you a choice between two totally distinct bonus rounds. I love when slots do this, as it lets you pick your preferred volatility.

• Free Spins: This option ditches the cash symbols entirely and plays as a standard 4,096-ways slot. Wilds carrying 2x, 3x or 5x land on reels 2 to 4, and your meter multiplies the total win of each spin. I bought the top tier for a few dozen spins, and it was a bit of a grind with a lot of small, dead payouts. But the potential is definitely there, I eventually lined up two multiplier wilds on a premium way for a single spin that paid over 100x, bringing my total return to just under the 180x I paid for it.
• Cash Blitz: This is the complete opposite. The board goes blank except for cash plaques (worth up to 100x), collectors, and retriggers. The best part? A collector is guaranteed to land on the first reel every single spin, meaning you never have a dead spin. I bought the 80x option, hit a few easy retriggers on the sixth reel, and walked away with a 91x return. It's a fast, fun feature, though I do have one minor gripe: the game pauses and forces you to manually click to start every single spin, which gets old fast.

If you're a slot nerd, it's impossible not to compare this to Bison Fire Charge. They share the exact same 6x4 layout, 5x meter, and bonus structures. The main difference is the math: Bison lists a 5,500x max win and locks its top jackpot out of the bonus spins, whereas review sites list Cash Blitz Extreme at 25,000x, a figure its own rules never print (and it keeps its biggest jackpot for the base game). The studio puts the return at 96.00%, one figure with no separate rate for the buys.

I actually prefer this game to something like Play'n GO's Piggy Heist II. In that game, uncollected coins just fly into a dummy safe for visual effect. Here, any cash plaques that land without a collector actually feed into four progressive jackpots that can genuinely pay out.

Cash Blitz Extreme is a really solid, fair slot. The base game can be a bit of a waiting game as you build your meter, but the fact that both bonus rounds offer a genuinely viable, completely different way to use that multiplier makes it worth the time.
