Evoplay is gearing up to release Mega Duck Hunt on October 27, 2026. If this autumn lake hunting slot looks a bit familiar, you aren't wrong. On paper it matches their 2022 game, The Greatest Catch Bonus Buy, figure for figure. The return, the grid, the lines and the max win are the same, and the theme here is a duck hunt on an autumn lake. It's not groundbreaking, but if you liked The Greatest Catch Bonus Buy, the numbers here will look familiar.

How the Free Spins Work
The whole game revolves around the Free Spins feature. During the base game, the duck symbols just act like regular payline symbols. But if you land three, four, or five scatters, you trigger 10, 15, or 20 free spins, and this is where the ducks' cash values, from 2x up to 2,000x your bet, can actually be collected.
The bonus round uses the classic "collect" mechanic we've all seen before. A Hunter Wild is added to the reels, and if he lands at the same time as the ducks, he collects all their cash values. Land two Hunters? They both collect everything on the board.
I did notice an interesting quirk in how the game treats you: if the Hunter lands with no ducks to shoot, a "Whistle" feature magically turns three to six regular symbols into ducks for him to collect. However, if a whole flock of ducks lands without a Hunter, you get nothing. The game is definitely much kinder to a lonely hunter than to a screen full of uncollected birds!

The Progression Meter and Bonus Buys
There's also a progression meter tracking your bonus round. Every Hunter Wild you land is counted. Every fourth wild gives you 10 extra spins and boosts the multiplier for your duck collections (stepping up to x2, then x3, and finally x10 if you manage to land 12 wilds). Just keep in mind that this multiplier only applies to the ducks you collect, not your regular line wins.

If you don't want to wait for the scatters to drop, there are three Bonus Buy options. You can buy 10 Free Spins for 50x your bet, 15 Free Spins for 92x, or 20 Free Spins for 140x. Interestingly, the 15-spin option gives you a slightly better Return to Player (RTP) at 95.89%, compared to the cheapest option's 95.68%.

A Familiar Format
To be fair, the overlap is out in the open. It shares the same 95.98% base RTP, 10-line grid, and 10,000x max win as The Greatest Catch Bonus Buy. Even the footer of the rules page is dated April 2022, years before this game's release date.
Mechanically, it plays a lot like Pragmatic Play's Big Bass Splash, which climbs the same x2, x3 and x10 ladder every fourth wild, and Golden Retriever, which runs its ladder at x2, x5 and x10. All three share the same collect idea. However, Mega Duck Hunt does offer a 10,000x max win, which is double the 5,000x cap of those two.
Mega Duck Hunt doesn't break new ground. It simply takes a highly polished, widely loved format, gives it a cozy autumn theme, and bumps up the max win potential. If you're tired of "fishing" slots, this probably won't change your mind, but if you love the mechanic, it's a solid, fun alternative.
