ELK Studios is back with Pirots 5 (released July 2026), and this time they've dragged our favorite pirate parrots into a cursed Egyptian temple. If you've played any of the previous games, you'll feel right at home with the familiar "CollectR" mechanic. But the real story here isn't the new theme, it's the math. ELK has finally bumped the RTP up to 96% (from the usual 94%) and slashed the price of the Super Bonus in half.

Pirots 5 Super Bonus drop on the opened eight-column temple grid, four parrot birds among red, purple, green and blue gems
Once the grid opens in the bonus it stays open, so every drop after that gives the birds the full board to walk.

The Main Bonus & The Dead Drops

The standard bonus triggers when the birds collect three bonus symbols, giving you five free drops. Just like older versions, the good stuff carries over between spins: your grid size stays expanded, the collection meter doesn't reset, and the gem payout levels hold their value. You can buy this standard bonus for 100x your bet.

I bought the 250x Super Bonus. The only difference here is a guaranteed "cursed treasure" that rains coins onto the board at the start of every single drop. It started great. The grid immediately opened up to its maximum 8x8 size on the first drop, giving the birds tons of room to roam. The coin rain did exactly what it was supposed to do, providing the bulk of my payouts.

But here is where the vulnerability of the Pirots format rears its ugly head: I paid 250x and only won back about a fifth of it. Why? Because two of my five drops were completely dead. The birds got stranded on the massive board with no matching colors or coins next to them. When they can't move, the drop just ends. It's incredibly frustrating to watch high-potential spins fizzle out just because of bad bird placement.

Two gold 2x coins dropped onto the Pirots 5 Super Bonus board within reach of the birds
This is what the extra 150x buys you: the cursed treasure drops coins at the start of each drop, and a coin only pays if a bird can actually reach it.

The Cursed Temple Coin Game

For 50x your bet, you can buy into a separate hold-and-win feature. It drops the four birds into the corners of an empty grid with a cursed treasure in the middle. You get three lives that reset anytime a new coin or bird lands. The central treasure is pretty active: it spits out new coins, upgrades existing ones, or doubles a bird's total.

I actually really enjoyed this feature. You can visibly watch your payout climb step-by-step as the birds run around grabbing coins. My buy-in finished just a hair under the 50x cost, which felt fair for the entertainment value. If you don't like buying bonuses, Bonus Hunt at 3x and Mega Hunt at 10x each buy one drop with a better chance of triggering the bonus game naturally.

When a bird runs out of things to grab next to the treasure, the treasure fires coins back onto the board and the hearts fill up again.

How It Stacks Up to the Rest of the Series

As the sixth game in the CollectR series, Pirots 5 feels like a "greatest hits" compilation with better under-the-hood mechanics.

For the hardcore fans: it uses the same 6x6 to 8x8 expanding grid as Pirots 2, charges the same 50x for its coin game that Pirots 3 charged for its own, and expands on the themed worlds Pirots 4 introduced.

But the biggest upgrade is undeniably the math. Every previous Pirots game sat at a 94% return, and Pirots 2 and Pirots X both charged 500x for their super bonus. Keeping the 10,000x max win while raising the RTP to 96% and dropping the Super Bonus to 250x makes this game far more accessible.

If you loved the earlier games, Pirots 5 is a no-brainer. You're getting the CollectR birds you enjoy, but with a fairer return and a top-tier feature that doesn't require a massive bankroll to try. Just keep in mind that it's still a medium-high volatility game: when the birds get stuck, they get stuck, and the dead drops will test your patience.

Pirots 4 gave you a choice of worlds; here there are three, plus a castle at the top that stays shut until nine tokens are collected.
