I've been spinning Thunderkick's Serpentico Smash since it dropped in September 2026, and it's an interesting one. It's an Aztec-meets-gems cluster-pays slot whose multiplier works a lot like the one in ELK Studios' Propaganda 2, which is due later in October.

Serpentico Smash free spins on the 5x6 board: a green gem cluster lit up, purple multiplier tiles x2, x10, x1 and x5 waiting to be crushed, Global Multiplier at x4 beside the reels
Gems, serpents and purple multiplier tiles on one 5x6 board. The tiles just sit there until a winning cluster lands on top of them.

How It Plays

The game is set on a 5x6 grid where winning clusters literally crush the symbols underneath them. You'll see multiplier tiles ranging from 1x to 50x drop in, but they don't do anything just by sitting there. You have to land a winning cluster directly above them to "crush" them, which then adds their value to a global multiplier. Alongside this, every crushed symbol fills up a charge meter. If you hit 30 steps on the meter, the game throws a wild onto the board to keep your sequence going once your cascades dry up.

In the base game, the meter and the multiplier reset on every spin, which is pretty standard. But the free spins are where it gets fun.

Serpentico Smash mid-crush: most of the grid emptied, a few symbols falling back in, the Global Multiplier readout now at x20
This is what a crush looks like: the winners and everything under them get wiped, the board refills, and every tile that got smashed on the way is added to the multiplier.

The Bonus Experience

You need three scatters in a single sequence to trigger 10 free spins (with any extra scatters adding +1 spin). In the bonus, both your multiplier and your charge meter hold their progress between spins.

A cluster worth 3x on the paytable, paid at x23 because the multiplier stuck around from earlier spins. That carry is the whole bonus.

I bought the bonus for 75x my stake, and it paid out a respectable 1.8x its cost (around 138x total). The persistent multiplier is really what builds the momentum here. By the middle of my feature, I had pushed the global multiplier to 23x. Because that number sticks, even tiny connections start paying well, a basic 8-symbol cluster worth 2x suddenly paid 46x, and a 3x cluster paid 69x. I also managed to fill the meter twice during the feature, which dropped in some clutch wilds right at the end of my cascades.

The three BET+ settings and what each one costs on a 1.00 bet. Only Smash Boost changes the tiles; the other two just raise the trigger chance.

If you like ante bets, the BET+ menu gives you a few ways to tweak the game. Bonus Boost (1.5x your bet) and Bonus Boost Plus (2.5x) just boost your chances of triggering the bonus. Alternatively, for 3.5x your bet, you can turn on the "Smash Boost." This actually changes the reels by removing the 1x and 2x multipliers entirely, guaranteeing that any multiplier that lands is at least a 3x. It's pricey, but it definitely speeds up the multiplier climb.

How It Compares

Next to its neighbours, it's a bit of a mixed bag. Thunderkick's Greedy Pumpking and Shark Park, cluster games due in October and November, offer double the max win (10,000x) on larger grids, though their bonuses cost a bit more at 80x. Serpentico Smash sits at a 5,000x max win with a 94.18% RTP, a hair above theirs.

Its closest mechanical neighbour is definitely Propaganda 2. ELK uses the exact same resetting base-game / climbing bonus-game multiplier logic, but pairs it with a massive 25,000x cap and a 96% RTP, which makes Thunderkick's math model look a little light in comparison. It also shares the 5,000x cap and the carry-over rule with Pragmatic's Sugar Rush, though that game uses marked spots instead of a global multiplier.

One number beside the reels does all the multiplying here, which is the real difference from Sugar Rush, where the multipliers live on the cells.

Positioning Is Everything

My biggest gripe with Serpentico Smash is that the mechanics can be a bit of a tease. Because a multiplier tile only activates if a cluster crushes it from above, positioning is absolutely everything. You can be on your very last free spin, see a 25x tile drop onto the board, and watch it do nothing because it landed in the wrong column.

It's a solid, entertaining game with great momentum when things line up, but you definitely have to be prepared for those frustrating near-miss moments where the multipliers just don't get crushed.

An x50 tile is worth nothing until something heavy lands above it and crushes it. Left alone, it just sits there.
