Sweet Loot Slot Review

Pragmatic Play's Sweet Loot (dated for release in late October 2026) is a quirky mix of two popular themes: candy and pirates. If you're familiar with Pragmatic's "scatter-pays" (pay-anywhere) games, you'll feel right at home here, but this one comes with a unique twist that completely changes how you chase big wins. Instead of multipliers dropping anywhere on the board, the game pins its entire multiplier system to a single special row at the top.

The game plays on a 6x5 grid, but there's an extra four-space row sitting right on top of the middle reels. This top row is the star of the show because it's the only place multipliers (which range from 2x up to a massive 500x) can land.

But for a multiplier to actually apply to your win, the specific symbol holding it has to be part of a winning combo of eight or more on the main board below. It adds a really fun layer of anticipation, but it can also be incredibly frustrating when the stars don't quite align.

You need four scatters to trigger the free spins. If you manage to land a "super scatter" in that top row during the trigger, you get upgraded to the Super Free Spins.

During the standard bonus, you're guaranteed at least one multiplier in the top row on every spin. The Super version cranks this up: all four top-row spots will hold a multiplier of at least 10x on every single drop. Just keep in mind that multipliers don't accumulate or carry over between spins like they do in some other games, each drop is its own separate event.

I bought the standard bonus for 100x my bet. The game is rated medium volatility, but the round still swung hard: I got back about a third of my cost, mostly saved by one lucky 15x multiplier connecting with a group of swords. I also tried the 500x Super Free Spins buy. Surprisingly, this one only returned about a quarter of its cost for me.

This highlights the game's biggest double-edged sword: seeing massive multipliers doesn't mean much if the symbols don't connect below. I had a few opening spins with guaranteed 100x multipliers where nothing matched, paying zero. On a later spin, I had an incredible 420x in multipliers sitting up top, but because only the lowest-paying symbols connected, it only paid out 1x my bet. It's thrilling when it hits, but you have to be prepared for the dry spells.

If you like tweaking your bets, the game offers a few options. There are two ante bets to boost your bonus chances, plus two "super spin" features (costing 20x and 200x your bet) that guarantee top-row multipliers in the base game. Just remember that payouts are calculated based on your base bet, not the total cost of the feature, and the max win is capped at 10,000x your base stake.

With "Sweet" in the name, you might think of Sweet Bonanza, but it actually plays a lot more like Wisdom of Athena 1000 (which shares the same grid shape and 10,000x max win).

Its board also looks a lot like Pragmatic's Kadita Ocean Fury, though Sweet Loot is a bit more straightforward since the top row is always unlocked and multipliers don't build up over time. Also, unlike Gates of Olympus 2500, which lets you buy modes where multipliers apply to any win, Sweet Loot strictly forces you to match the specific multiplier symbol.

Outside of Pragmatic, Betsoft's Birds in the City has similar 100x and 500x bonus buys. Its 500x option also puts a 10x floor on its multipliers, but pairs it with a much higher 45,000x max win.

Sweet Loot is a beautifully designed, entertaining slot, but it's definitely not for the faint of heart. The defining trait of the game isn't the size of the multipliers, but where they sit. The top-row mechanic creates incredible "near-miss" tension. If you enjoy games where big setups can either fizzle out or pay huge, it's absolutely worth a spin, just keep your expectations in check if you decide to buy those expensive bonuses!
