Pragmatic Play keeps adding to The Dog House franchise. Their August 2026 release, The Dog Mansion - Royal Hunt, puts the familiar pups in fancy country-house tweed. Last year's The Dog House - Royal Hunt sits on the same 5x3 board with the same 8,000x max win. The big difference here? They've actually softened the math, making it a bit more forgiving while keeping the gameplay focused entirely on those classic sticky multiplier wilds.

The Dog Mansion - Royal Hunt base game with three 2x dog house wilds across reels 2, 3 and 4 and a crowned Rottweiler on reel 5
Three 2x wilds across the middle reels: wilds on one line add their multipliers rather than multiply them, so a line through all three carries 6x, not 8x.

How the Bonus Works

Triggering the bonus is standard stuff: hit three scatters on reels 1, 3, and 5. Instead of giving you a set number of spins, a 3x3 grid pops up. Each cell spins to reveal 1, 2, or 3 spins, which are added together to give you anywhere from 9 to 27 free spins. One thing to note, scatters are removed from the reels during the bonus. What you start with is what you get, so don't hold your breath for any retriggers.

Once you're in, it's all about the middle three reels. Any wild that lands there sticks for the whole feature with a 2x or 3x multiplier. A crucial detail to remember is that if you get multiple wilds on a payline, they add together rather than multiply. So, the absolute best multiplier you can get on a single line is 9x.

Free spins with one spin left and five sticky dog house wilds, four 3x and one 2x, parked on reels 2, 3 and 4
This is what the sticky wilds build towards: the middle reels filled up with 2x and 3x houses, while reels 1 and 5 still have to bring the symbols.

The 500x Super Bonus Gamble

If you're the impatient type, you can buy the standard bonus for 100x your bet. But the game also offers a "Royal Free Spins" option for a hefty 500x, which you actually can't trigger naturally from the base game. It plays exactly the same, but the sticky wilds get bumped to 10x or 20x multipliers.

I decided to bite the bullet and buy the Royal feature. The grid gave me a decent 12 spins, and I managed to stick two 10x wilds early on reels 2 and 3. From then on, almost every spin paid something through them, but the elusive 20x multiplier never showed up. I walked away with 232x my bet, less than half of what I paid. It's a stark reminder of how this math model works: you really need to stack those 20x wilds early to justify the price tag (three 20x wilds on one line carry a 60x multiplier).

My Royal buy in a picture: two 10x wilds stuck early and did all the paying, and a 20x never turned up to push the round past its price.

A Sideways Step for the Series

This feels like a sideways step for the series, but a fair one. It shares the same 8,000x max win as the 2025 version, which is pretty modest compared to the 15,000x of The Big Dog House or the massive 25,000x of The Dog House Megaways 1000.

However, the trade-off is a drop to medium volatility and an absolutely stellar RTP of 98.02% (which, impressively, stays exactly the same whether you spin normally or buy either bonus).

Pragmatic has been leaning on this specific engine a lot lately. Catrix uses the exact same sticky-middle-wilds setup, but trades a lower RTP (96.55%) for a 50,000x max win. Eastern Fury also has a 500x super bonus and sticky multipliers, but pushes wilds up to 100x on a larger grid.

What really defines The Dog Mansion - Royal Hunt is how tightly it controls the board. Because the wilds are locked to the middle columns and paylines only pay left-to-right, you can have a screen full of juicy multipliers and still win nothing if reel 1 doesn't play ball, and no five of a kind without reel 5.

It's a fun, gentler addition to the Dog House family with an RTP that's incredibly generous for the modern era. Just keep your expectations in check regarding that 500x bonus buy, and remember that you are entirely at the mercy of the outer reels.

The game says it up front: 8,000x at the top, the same ceiling as the 2025 Royal Hunt, and a medium volatility badge where the older one was listed as very high.
