Harlequin Carnival is a Venetian masquerade slot from Nolimit City, built around a Wild that walks one step left every respin and a bonus that opens with a guaranteed x3 multiplier locked to reel 5. The xNudge mechanic stacks the multiplier vertically AND horizontally, two directions feeding the same number, with a hard cap at x7. About Harlequin Carnival Slot
The trick that makes this one work is horizontal. The Harlequin Wild is a 3-row tall masked dancer that only lands on reels 2, 3 and 4, and the first thing it does is nudge into full view, bumping the Wild multiplier by 1 for every row it slides. Fine, that's the xNudge mechanic the studio puts on plenty of games. The twist here is what happens next. As soon as a Wild is fully on screen it walks one step left, and that single step awards a respin on every other reel. It keeps walking and triggering respins until it reaches reel 1 and falls off, and any new Harlequin Wilds that land during the walk join the parade with their own respin counters.
Multiple Wild multipliers on the same payline ADD instead of multiplying together, which is how the base game piles up faster than the x7 ceiling suggests. Two Wilds carrying x2 and x3 on the same line give x5, not x6. Stack four nudge steps across two Wilds during a respin chain and you're already at solid double-digit territory before any free spins are involved.
Three Bonus symbols, either dropped straight in the base game or collected during a respin walk, award the Harlequin Bonus at 8 spins. The opening setup is deterministic: one Harlequin Wild lands instantly on reel 5 with a x3 multiplier already on it, and then the walking-left logic kicks in. Each step toward reel 1 adds +1 to the multiplier, with x7 as the hard cap. Bonus symbols inside the round act as Wilds and add +1 spin each, and collecting three of them re-activates another guaranteed Wild on reel 5 to restart the multiplier walk. That's the only re-trigger pathway and the cleanest route to running the cap across multiple chains in one round.
One feature buy exists: direct entry into Harlequin Bonus, priced at a -2% return cost rather than a stake multiplier. No second buy tier, no ante bet, no Lucky Draw - the menu is unusually short for an NLC release, which fits how early in the studio's catalogue this one sits. The 2019 release shows in the art too. Reels nest inside ornate baroque arches with carved cherubs and flower garlands hanging across the top, a sky-blue garden background behind everything, card-suit lows rendered in Venetian gold instead of plain pips, and the masked-dancer characters lifted straight from commedia dell'arte. It's the studio's family-friendly registry rather than the gore-and-shock direction the catalogue went later, closer in tone to a high-society masked ball than to anything wearing the Overthelimit badge. Players who came to NLC for the heavier xNudge work can compare the dual-direction mechanic here against the cleaner vertical-only version in Brute Force.
