There is no scatter in Mystic Reels. Every symbol that pops in a cascade nudges a marker one stone further round a ring under the reels, and reaching the far end is the only way into free spins, where each of the five reels grows its own multiplier up to 5x and keeps it for the whole round.

Mystic Reels Slot Overview
A gemstone slot set in a glowing night forest, and there is no scatter symbol anywhere in it. Free spins get built, not landed.
Wins pay left to right across 20 fixed lines. The winning crystals shatter, replacements drop in, and every single symbol that pops moves a marker one step along a ring of standing stones under the reels. Push far enough in one round and the stones hand over 7, 10, 12, 18 or 25 free spins. That is the entire trigger condition, which makes chained cascades the only thing worth watching in the base game.
Bulletproof Games built it and BGaming publishes it, which is why it plays nothing like the rest of the BGaming catalogue. RTP is 96.00% at every one of the eight bet steps, and those run from 1.00 to 100.00.
Theme & Design
The reels sit inside a carved blue-stone monolith wrapped in creeping green vines, planted in a night forest where two dark trunks frame the shot, magenta and violet flower-fronds glow up the sides and blue fireflies drift across the background. Bluebells cluster at the base. Calm rather than dramatic, the kind of enchanted wood that only exists in slot art, and easily the best thing about the presentation.
Everything that pays is a gemstone. Five single cut stones at the bottom (blue pyramid, purple stone, green cube, magenta stone, orange octahedron), then raw multi-crystal clusters in purple-blue, green-orange and red-pink, an orange-pink cluster with WILD written across it, and an icy diamond carrying the game's logo on top. Those five cut stones are the same silhouette in five colours, so the low end of the grid reads as one texture until you learn the palette.
Beneath the reels, a ring of pale standing stones circles a lit pool, each stone labelled with the spins it awards. Free spins throw the forest out entirely and replace it with a pink and blue aurora, lightning cracking around a portal, coloured multiplier numerals hanging above each reel. The bonus does not just play differently, it looks like somewhere else.

Features & How They Work
Cascade+ and the standing-stone trail
All 20 lines are scored first, then every symbol that took part in a win pops. Each individual pop advances the trail by one position, not one step per cascade, so a fat five-symbol win moves the marker further than a scrappy three. The gaps refill from above and the loop runs again if new lines connect.
The trail has eight positions. Two do nothing, two more do nothing unless Encore is switched on, and the last five are the free-spin awards. It resets to zero at the start of every new base spin, so the feature has to be won inside a single cascading round. Nothing carries over.
Free Spins and the five reel multipliers
Same cascading engine, new setting, and one addition that changes the maths completely: each of the five reels gets its own multiplier panel above it, all starting at x1. Every wild that lands on a reel adds +1 to that reel's multiplier. A line win is then multiplied by the product of the multipliers on the reels it actually touched, so reels sitting at x1, x4, x1, x2 and x4 turn a five-symbol line into 32 times its base value.
Each reel caps at x5. That puts the theoretical combined product at x3125, though that needs all five reels maxed at once and the game never displays such a number. The important part is that the multipliers persist for the whole feature. They do not reset between spins, which is why a bonus that starts slowly can still finish well.
Retrigger trail
The feature runs its own trail, and it is a friendlier one. It resets after every free spin rather than after the round, and its first rung awards just 2 extra spins before the same 7, 10, 12, 18 and 25 steps. That 2-spin position exists only inside the bonus, and it is what keeps rounds ticking over an extra spin or two without ever turning them into something enormous.
Encore
An ante mode costing +50% of total bet, charged on every spin until it is switched off. It sits behind the BUY BONUS button next to a genuine one-off purchase, which is confusing, though the card at least says ACTIVATE rather than BUY.
What it does: the two dead trail positions immediately before the first free-spin step become respin positions. End a round on one and the reels spin again with the trail position held instead of wiped, and landing on the second of them during that respin buys another. The game claims this a little over doubles how often the feature lands. Without Encore, no respin ever happens.
Buy A Bonus
100x total bet, which drops the trail straight onto the 10-free-spins position and adds one extra spin on top. If that spin cascades, the marker keeps climbing and the award grows; if it does nothing, 10 spins is what you get. One bought round opened at 12 spins, retriggered to 14 and returned 338.5x, a respectable result nowhere near the ceiling.
Worth knowing before you press it: this game publishes one RTP figure and one only. Most buy-feature slots list a separate return for the purchase, and this one does not, so there is no way to check the buy against the 96.00% base.

How Mystic Reels Plays
The base game runs quiet. Twenty lines on a 5x3 grid with a 25x top symbol is small money by any measure, and with no multipliers involved anywhere, even a three-step cascade usually gives back a fraction of the stake. What keeps it watchable is that the score is always visible. Each pop shifts the marker, the marker sits right there under the reels, and a round that dies two stones short of the bonus feels completely different from one that never moved.
That is a different tension from a scatter game. Nothing is dropping into view; there is a crawl that either keeps crawling or stops. Most rounds stop early. Medium volatility reads accurately here, and the base game is more grind than drought.
The bonus is where the game actually lives, and its shape is decided in the first handful of spins. Wilds early means the reel multipliers climb while there are still spins left to spend them on, and the round escalates properly from there. No wilds early and you are playing the base game with a better background, finishing at roughly what you started with. The distance between a good round and a dead one is wider here than most cascading slots manage, which is probably the whole design.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Every base spin has a visible outcome, not just a win or a blank
- Reel multipliers persist across the whole bonus, so long rounds compound
- Encore is a cheap toggle that changes trigger frequency in a way you can feel
- Art and the full scene change into free spins are a cut above standard gem-slot filler
Cons
- No multipliers of any kind in the base game, so even long cascades pay small
- The trail wipes on every new base spin, so near-misses count for nothing unless Encore is running
- No separate RTP published for the Buy Bonus or for Encore
Is Mystic Reels Worth Playing?
Dropping the scatter is the kind of decision plenty of studios talk about and then quietly do not make. Bulletproof went through with it, and the game is genuinely built around the consequence rather than having a trail bolted onto a normal trigger. The bonus holds up its end too. Wilds doing double duty as multiplier fuel means a round can turn from nothing into something without a single new mechanic being introduced.
Where it runs short is the roof. A 4,558.7x ceiling on free spins designed to compound is an odd fit, and the flat base game means the stretches between features give back very little. For my money Encore is close to mandatory, since the trail is a slog without it, and that quietly makes 1.50 the real minimum stake on a game advertised from 1.00.
