About San Quentin xWays Slot
Above and below every reel sit five locked windows shaped like jail cell bars, ten in total, which is where almost everything interesting in this game happens. Land a single Bonus on a reel and the symbol converts to a Wild while both cells on that reel pop open. Whatever those cells reveal is what shapes the spin: one of the five inmate top-pays, a regular Wild, a Razor Split, or the xWays symbol. The playfield is officially 5x3 with 243 ways, but with all ten cells active the math is closer to 5x5 with the ways count expanding under it.
The xWays symbol is the headline mechanic the game is named after. A single xWays in an open cell drops a stacked column of one of the five inmate symbols across four positions. The interaction nobody talks about is what happens when xWays lands in BOTH the top AND bottom cell of the same reel: the entire reel converts to eight singleton Wilds. Razor Split runs the parallel idea, splitting every regular symbol on the reel into double positions, and a Razor Split top-AND-bottom doubles the split a second time. Quadrupled symbols on a 243-ways grid is how a base spin can suddenly snap into four-digit multipliers without a bonus running.
Three or more Bonus symbols trigger Lockdown Spins, and the trigger details matter. Three Bonus gives one Jumping Wild, four gives two, five gives three. The spin count itself is decided by the values revealed inside the opened cells (1, 2, or 3 each), so a 5-Bonus trigger that opens generous cells gives a meaningfully longer round than the minimum. Jumping Wilds re-roll to a random regular position each spin and carry a multiplier equal to the number of Wilds covering that position, and any Wild that lands on a reel hosting a Razor Split enhancer doubles its multiplier and sticks for the rest of the feature. Land another Bonus during the round and a fourth path opens, +1 Jumping Wild plus extra spins, capped at three Jumping Wilds total. The full reverse of the Death Row sequel in pacing terms, this one is shorter rounds with denser stacking.
Visually the reel set is bolted into a sheet-metal cellblock plate against stone prison walls with barbed wire strung across the top and CCTV cameras tracking the play from both sides. Symbol art runs five inmate mugshots in orange jumpsuits (one is a clear Pablo Escobar caricature, mustache and aviators) over the usual NLC slasher lows: bar of soap, Zippo, toilet roll, handcuffs, crossed shivs. The bonus is a watchtower with the word stamped across the front. Buy menu offers all three Lockdown trigger tiers (3, 4 or 5 Bonus) at -2%, -3% and -4% off the base game, with the 5-Bonus tier landing you in the round with three Jumping Wilds already running. The 150,000x cap is hard. When total payouts cross that line during Lockdown Spins, the round ends and the cap is awarded, full stop.
