Book of Santa Dice Slot Overview

Christmas at the fireplace, played entirely with dice. Endorphina took its 2019 Book of Santa, turned every symbol into a chunky gold-edged cube, and left the machine underneath exactly as it was: ten free games in which one symbol swells to fill a whole reel.

Five reels, three rows, ten fixed lines paying left to right. The golden Book is Wild and Scatter at once, the shape Book slots have used since Book of Ra, and three of them anywhere on the reels open the feature. RTP is 96.05%, volatility runs high, and the ceiling is 5,000x. Which tells you where the money lives.

The base game is a waiting room. Everything this slot has to give is inside those ten spins.

Theme & Design

The reels sit inside a stone fireplace framed in gold, coals glowing orange along the bottom lip, pine sprigs tucked behind the logo. Low pays are plain red dice with black pips, tumbling slightly off-axis so two faces show at once. The premiums paint their picture on the top face: a candy cane on green, a blue die carrying Santa's gilded sleigh, a gold star pressed into red, and Santa himself, white beard and rosy cheeks, wrapping around one corner of a cube. The Book keeps its own bordered frame, a golden cover with a red Christmas-tree roundel and a snowflake die spilling out of it. As Christmas art goes, it is warm and properly made.

It also reads badly. Six shades of red stacked against a red brick wall means the low dice blur into each other, and picking a four from a five mid-spin takes more attention than a ten-line slot should ask for. The jingle loops, Santa laughs over wins, and after half an hour you'll probably reach for the mute.

Features & How They Work

Free Games and the expanding symbol

Three or more Books anywhere award 10 free games. Before the first spin the game picks one regular symbol at random and gives it the power to expand for the whole round. When enough of that symbol lands, it stretches vertically across its reel and pays for the count on enabled lines whether or not those positions sit next to each other, which is the whole reason a Book round can jump from nothing to a four-figure multiplier. The expansion resolves after the normal payout, so a single spin pays twice. The Book stops substituting for the chosen symbol during the feature, so wilds never help the expansion along. Three more Books mid-round add another 10 games at the same bet and lines.

The Book doing two jobs

One symbol handles both roles. In the base game the Book substitutes for every regular die on a payline, and the same symbol counts as the Scatter for triggering. It pays on its own too. Two Books on the middle rows is the moment every spin is quietly building toward, because the third one changes the session.

Bonus POP

The buy button does something the standard version of this feature does not: it hands you the choice of which symbol carries the expand, instead of leaving it to the draw. At the 0.10 minimum across all ten lines the cost is 6.90, roughly 69x the stake, and the price shifts with total bet and the option selected. The purchase plays out as a base spin that lands three Books, then rolls straight into the 10 free games. Winnings from a bought round cannot be sent to the gamble. Some operators switch the button off entirely, so it is not guaranteed to be there.

Risk Game

Endorphina's card gamble hangs off any winning spin. Beat the dealer's card and the win doubles, miss and it goes to zero, and the ladder can be climbed repeatedly. Bonus POP wins are excluded from it.

How Book of Santa Dice Plays

Ten lines, no multipliers, nothing collecting in the corner between spins. The base game pays in small change or not at all, and the balance drips down in 0.04 and 0.05 increments while you wait for a third Book. High-variance Book slots all work like this and this one does nothing to soften it.

The moment worth sitting through it for is the symbol reveal at the start of the feature. Draw Santa or the sleigh and the round has somewhere to go. Draw a two-pip die and you already know how it ends, because a full reel of low symbols pays about what a decent base-game line pays, and then you watch nine more spins of it. That gap between a good draw and a bad one is the most interesting thing about the game, and it is decided before you spin once.

The dice conceit works better than it has any right to. A heavy gold-edged cube landing on the reel has more physical weight to it than a card symbol ever did, and the remodel goes further than most seasonal repaints bother to (and yes, the game underneath has not moved an inch).

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Expanded symbols pay on non-adjacent positions, so a filled reel counts everywhere on a line
  • Bonus POP lets you choose which symbol expands rather than accepting the random draw
  • Free games retrigger on three more Books, at the same bet and lines
  • The dice remodel is a full art rebuild, not a colour swap

Cons

  • No multipliers, no wild extras, nothing happening in the base game between triggers
  • A low pip die drawn as the expanding symbol produces a near-worthless bonus round
  • Red dice on red brick are hard to read at speed
  • The 5,000x ceiling is locked almost entirely behind the feature
  • Bonus POP is operator-optional, so plenty of casinos will not have it

Is Book of Santa Dice Worth Playing?

6/10

An old Book slot wearing a well-made Christmas costume. The mechanic is 20 years old and Endorphina has not tried to modernise it, which is defensible for a seasonal release but leaves the base game thinner than most 2025 titles get away with. What saves it from being pure nostalgia is the buy: being able to name the expanding symbol turns the feature from a lottery into a decision, and that is worth more here than any multiplier bolt-on would have been.

Seasonal players who already know the Book rhythm will be at home in about four spins. Anyone expecting the layered mechanics of a modern release will find this a short visit. The 96.05% RTP is fair, the volatility is honest about itself, and at 69x for a bought round the feature is not cheap for what it usually delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the max win in Book of Santa Dice?

5,000x your bet. It comes from the expanding symbol filling reels during the free games, so the base game realistically cannot get close on its own.

How do you trigger the free games?

Land three or more Book symbols anywhere on the five reels and you get 10 free games with one expanding symbol. Three more Books during the round add another 10.

What is the RTP and volatility?

96.05% RTP with high volatility. Expect long dry runs between features, which is normal for this style of slot.

Is there a buy feature?

Yes, Bonus POP. It costs 6.90 at the 0.10 minimum bet, about 69x stake, and it lets you pick which symbol expands. Some operators disable it, and its winnings cannot be gambled.

Can the free games be retriggered?

Yes. Three or more Books landing during the feature award another 10 free games at the same bet and line setup, with the same expanding symbol carrying over.

What is the minimum age to play?

You must be 18 or older, or whatever the legal gambling age is where you live. The demo runs on play money with no real stakes, and if you move to real money, set a deposit limit before you start.
