Play it straight and Book of Sorcery behaves like every Book slot before it. You spin, you wait, and the whole session hinges on whether three books turn up. Base wins are thin because the model is back-loaded onto the bonus, where one expanding symbol either picks a high-payer and fills reels, or lands on a royal and leaves you flat. That swing is the appeal and the frustration in equal measure.
