Circle of Life plays on a 5x4 grid with 14 paylines. The Wild here is a Tree symbol, but it does more than substitute. Every Tree lands with a Multiplier value attached - anything from 2x up to 100x. When that Tree is part of a winning combination, the win gets multiplied by that value. If two Trees contribute to the same win, their multipliers add together first.
That's just the setup. The real mechanic starts after the win pays. A Respin triggers, the winning Tree sticks in place, and it expands upward by one row into a Tree of Life. New symbols drop around it. If the Tree of Life forms another win, another Respin fires and the tree grows again. This continues until no new wins form or until the tree reaches the top of the grid.
When a Tree of Life fully expands from the bottom row to the top of its reel, the Circle of Life activates. A wheel appears with Additive Multipliers (2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 100x), one Multiplicative Multiplier (x2), and a Skull. The wheel keeps spinning - each landing adds to or multiplies the Tree of Life's existing multiplier. Only the Skull stops it.
So a Tree that started at 4x could gain 10x, then 25x, then x2, ending at 78x before the Skull hits. Every win formed with that Tree of Life on the final settle uses the inflated multiplier. One good Circle of Life activation can turn a modest grid into a massive payout.
Three or more FS scatter symbols trigger simultaneously, and each one expands to fill its entire reel. Every position covered awards +1, +2, or +3 free spins. The total free spins equal the sum of all covered positions. Some positions can transform into Upgrade symbols that push you into a higher bonus tier - one Upgrade on three scatters jumps from Origin to Eternal, two Upgrades skip straight to Rebirth.
Three scatter symbols open Origin. Base game mechanics apply, but when a Tree or Tree of Life contributes to a win, it becomes sticky for the next free spin. No Respins in this mode - the Trees hold position between spins instead. Additional expanding FS symbols award +4 to +12 extra spins each.
Four scatters or an Origin upgrade opens Eternal with at least 15 free spins. Same sticky Tree mechanics as Origin, plus a permanent upgrade: whenever a Circle of Life triggers on a reel, that reel activates for the rest of the bonus. An activated reel guarantees a Tree symbol lands on it every single spin. The longer the bonus runs, the more reels activate, the more Trees appear.
Five scatters open the top-tier bonus. All Eternal mechanics carry over, with one guaranteed head start: reels 2 and 4 are activated from the very first spin. That means Trees on those two reels every spin from the start, feeding into expansions, Circle of Life wheels, and escalating multipliers. No additional FS symbols can land, so the bonus runs its course at full intensity.
Hacksaw Gaming released Circle of Life on January 15, 2026, as a spiritual successor to their earlier Life and Death. The monochrome cathedral aesthetic with stone-carved symbols bursts into color only when Trees bloom on the reels. At 96.33% RTP with high volatility and 23.53% hit frequency, the base game delivers a steady rhythm of small wins punctuated by Tree expansions that can escalate into Circle of Life wheel activations worth many times the initial multiplier.
