Dawn of Kings runs a 5x3 grid with 13 paylines - three more than the standard 10 you'd find in most Book-of games. The Book symbol works as both wild and scatter, substituting for all paying symbols and triggering bonuses when three or more land. Five Books across the reels pay 1,000x your bet on their own.
The base game has a random Book mechanic trigger. A symbol gets selected as Special, 3-5 copies drop onto the grid, then spread to fill their entire reels. After spreading, these Special symbols pay from any position, ignoring gaps between them. It fires often enough to keep base game sessions from going completely dry.
Three Book scatters start the Book of Dawn Bonus: 10 free spins with one random Special symbol. Land four or five Books and you upgrade to Triple Book of Dawn - 12 spins with three Special symbols, at least one guaranteed to be high-paying. Five scatters also hand you a flat 1,000x cash prize on top of the bonus entry.
The real differentiator is the Best of Bonus symbol. When it appears alongside your Book scatters, whichever bonus you triggered plays out three separate times. A scoreboard tracks all three results, and you walk away with only the highest one. It's a variance smoother disguised as a premium feature - you get three shots at a good bonus instead of one.
Retriggering during free spins adds 2 spins for two extra Books, 4 spins for three, and landing four Books upgrades a regular Book of Dawn bonus into the Triple version mid-feature.
The buy menu here is one of Hacksaw's longest. BonusHunt FeatureSpins at 3x your bet gives every spin a 5x higher bonus trigger chance. Silver FeatureSpins (50x) guarantees a random expanding symbol each spin. Golden FeatureSpins (100x) does the same but only picks high-pay symbols. Then you get direct purchases for all four bonus types - Book of Dawn, Triple Book of Dawn, Best of Book of Dawn, and Best of Triple Book of Dawn.
Seven options is a lot to parse. The Best of Triple sits at the top end around 600x your bet, which is steep for a medium-volatility game. But the triple-play mechanic means you're buying three bonus rounds for the price of one premium entry.
Amy Dawn - the explorer protagonist - looks like she walked off the set of an Indiana Jones B-movie, hat, satchel, and all. Hacksaw has done Egypt before with Temple of Torment and Hand of Anubis, but those leaned into dark horror aesthetics. Dawn of Kings goes the opposite direction: warm torchlight, gold coins piled around the reels, and a colour palette built on emerald greens and deep blues. The top-paying Amy symbol at 1,000x for five-of-a-kind is double what most Book-of games offer for their premium symbol, and that bump is what pushes max win to 10,000x.
The 13-payline structure and medium volatility make this more forgiving than Hacksaw's usual high-variance output. Dead spin stretches are shorter, but individual bonus rounds also tend to pay less than their high-volatility counterparts. The Best of Bonus mechanic offsets that somewhat - three chances at a decent result beats one shot at a volatile outcome.
