Dreamzone runs a 5x5 grid where wins form through clusters - three or more matching symbols connected side by side. Winning clusters explode, and the remaining symbols drop down to make room for fresh ones from above. Standard avalanche behavior. What makes Dreamzone different from a dozen other avalanche slots is what it does when the chain stalls.
Each winning cluster collects a Dream Feature. These sit in reserve, waiting. When the avalanche produces no new wins, the game doesn't end the round. Instead, it spends one Dream Feature to try to restart the action. Up to five features stack per round, and each one fires a different modifier.
Wild adds 1 to 5 wilds to random positions on the grid. Symbol Explode removes up to 4 symbols to create new drop gaps. Symbol Upgrade converts low-value symbols into their high-value counterparts - same color, better payout. Symbol Scatter makes one symbol level pay regardless of adjacency, counting every matching symbol on the grid.
The result is that a single winning spin often extends into 4, 5, 6 cascades - the initial wins generate features, those features create new wins, and occasionally those new wins generate more features. The chain doesn't always go long. But the mechanic ensures that Dreamzone rarely ends a sequence without trying.
The bonus trigger is elegant. Clear all 25 symbols from the 5x5 grid during a single avalanche sequence and Bonus Drops start. That means every symbol position needs to participate in a winning cluster at some point during the cascade - a tall order, but Dream Features pushing the chain forward make it less rare than it sounds.
Bonus Drops begin at x2 multiplier with 3 drop chances to clear the grid again. Succeed, and the multiplier doubles to x4 with another 3 drops. Then x8, x16, x32. The doubling continues with no cap until you either fail to clear the grid or hit the 2,500x max win. In theory, the multiplier reaches x512 and beyond. In practice, most bonus rounds end somewhere between x4 and x16.
Dream Features carry into the bonus. Every win still collects them, and they still fire when the avalanche stalls. At x8 or x16 multiplier, even modest cluster wins multiply into significant payouts.
RTP is 96.0% - sitting right at the industry average and above ELK's current standard. Hit frequency lands at 27.7%, so roughly one in four spins generates at least a small cluster. The medium-high volatility (7 out of 10 on ELK's scale) makes sense: base game wins come often enough, and the real upside lives in sustained avalanche chains during Bonus Drops.
The visual side is all cosmic purples and pinks - glowing orbs, particle effects, a dark space backdrop. Symbols are abstract geometric shapes in gem tones. It's clean and readable, which matters on a 5x5 cluster grid where tracking winning groups across 25 positions needs clarity.
At 2,500x, the max win is modest. The 5x5 cluster format and avalanche mechanic were still relatively fresh territory for ELK when Dreamzone launched in mid-2020. No buy bonus exists - you either trigger Bonus Drops organically or you don't. That makes the game feel simpler than ELK's later releases, but the Dream Features system introduces enough strategic depth to keep the cascades interesting.
