Face Off is a horror-themed slot set in a foggy cemetery run by masked villains - grinning green-haired clowns, beaked plague doctors, gas-mask cultists chanting REPENT. There are no paylines here. You win by landing eight or more of the same symbol anywhere on a 6x5 grid, wins tumble away for chained hits, and the whole thing is really just a delivery system for one free spins round where gravestone multipliers stack up.

BGaming released it in October 2025 as a standalone, and it wears its Halloween mood well without being a novelty. The base game is a familiar pay-anywhere tumbler, the kind you've spun a hundred variants of. What gives Face Off its shape is the bonus math and a genuinely nice bit of atmosphere theatre around the reels.

The look is grim monochrome. A dead-grey graveyard fades into fog behind the board, bare black trees claw at the edges, and heaps of skulls litter the ground along the bottom. Colour only arrives on the villains: a clown with a lurid green mane and a red clown nose, a plague-doctor 'nurse' in a yellow beaked mask topped with a green medical cross, a white bunny mask trailing red hair, and blue-hooded cultists in round-eyed gas masks. The low symbols are 10 through Ace carved into cold grey stone. To the left sits a cracked BUY BONUS tablet and a Chance x2 tablet; to the right, a tombstone counts 'Days since the last resurrection.' It's restrained, atmosphere over spectacle, and it looks better than most BGaming horror efforts. The soundtrack pulses low rather than jumps at you.

Expect long, quiet stretches. The base game hands out plenty of small tumble wins thanks to the roughly 1-in-2.6 hit rate, but most of them are royals paying back a fraction of your bet, so the balance drifts down while you wait. The tombstone counter beside the reels leans into that drought on purpose - its taunts escalate from 'Days since the last resurrection' to 'the graves will crack' to 'I can already hear them' the longer you go bonusless. It's a small touch, and yes, it's just flavour, but it reads the mood of a dry session better than most slots bother to.

When the skulls finally align, the tone flips hard. Everything you spun for is packed into that free spins round, and it can swing from a damp 10x to something enormous depending on how the multiplier stones fall. For my money that concentration is both the appeal and the catch: the game is either dead air or fireworks, with not much in between.

Face Off is a good-looking, well-scored horror slot let down slightly by a base game you've met many times before. The multiplier-stack bonus is clean and can pay big, the theme work from this corner of BGaming is a cut above its usual novelty output, and the escalating grave counter is a smart way to dress up variance. But the below-average RTP and the flat, royal-heavy stretches between features mean it earns respect more for its mood and its bonus than for moment-to-moment play. High-volatility players who like their action saved up and spent all at once will get the most out of it.
