Dragon Boat Festival is what happens when Reel Kingdom takes a proven formula and turns up the numbers. Same 5x3 grid. Same 10 paylines. Same two-feature structure of Hold and Spin plus Free Spins with Wild collection. But the ceiling moved from 5,000x to 10,000x, Money symbol values jumped from a max of 20x to 2,000x, and Fish Money symbols now carry values up to the full 10,000x cap. The DNA is identical to the 2021 original - the potential is not.
Two additions round out the upgrade. A buy bonus at 100x lets you skip straight to either Free Spins or the Hold and Spinner - your choice. And an ante bet bumps your wager by 50% for more frequent Scatters, though it disables the buy option and drops the max win to 6,666x.
Three or more Money symbols anywhere on the reels trigger the Hold and Spinner round. Those symbols lock with their values - anywhere from 1x to 2,000x total bet - and you get 4 respins. Each new Money symbol that lands resets the counter back to 4. No timer, no limit on fills. The round ends when respins run out.
Compare that 2,000x ceiling to the original's 20x maximum on Money symbols and the upgrade is obvious. A single lucky Money symbol in this version can pay what the original's entire Hold and Spin round might deliver.
Three, four, or five Scatters start the Free Spins round with 10, 15, or 20 spins. Wilds appear on all reels during the feature and pull double duty - standard substitution plus collecting every Fish Money value visible when they land.
The retrigger ladder works the same way as the original: every 4th Wild collected adds 10 spins and bumps the collection multiplier. First retrigger goes to 2x, second to 3x, third to 10x. That final 10x jump is where the math gets serious. Fish Money symbols with values up to 10,000x multiplied by even 2x or 3x can push individual collections into four-figure territory relative to your bet.
Random Fish Money drops also kick in during Free Spins - extra Fish Money symbols appear when Wilds are already on screen, feeding more values into the collection mechanic.
Fish symbols on the paytable do double duty as regular paying symbols and as Fish Money carriers. In the base game, though, they function more as blockers than prizes. The top regular symbol pays 200x total bet for five of a kind, and low symbols only return 5x for a full line. Without Wilds in the base game and with Money symbols scattered across all reels, triggering features naturally takes patience.
The 96.07% RTP is a step down from the original's 96.71%. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable - especially since the ante bet mode nudges it only slightly to 96.09%. If you're comparing entries in the Floating Dragon series, the Megaways version that came between these two pushed max wins to 20,000x. Dragon Boat Festival sits in the middle ground: more potential than the original, less than Megaways, and with a simpler grid that some players prefer.
