About Folsom Prison Slot

The grid starts almost completely caged. Only the middle two rows on the first four reels are active at the opening spin, which is where the 16 ways figure comes from, and reel 5 sits entirely behind locked bars. Every Wild, Scatter, xSplit or xWays that lands on an open cell pries open the closest locked positions above and below it on the same reel, so the active area grows in stages instead of all at once. Push the unlocks far enough and the layout opens to 4-6-6-6-4 with up to 3,456 ways feeding the math. The cell-door theming is literal, not a metaphor, with the bars physically snapping apart as new positions activate.

The Cockroach is the engine. It lands at a starting position, converts that cell to a Wild, then crawls horizontally above the reels carrying a multiplier value of x1, x2, x3 or x10 that adds to every symbol it passes underneath. Any locked cell a Cockroach walks across opens up. Two Cockroaches occupying the same position on the same step transform that position into a Wild as well. A separate Cockroach Nest only activates when a Cockroach walks on it, upgrading that bug's multiplier by one tier for the rest of the feature, and if the Nest carries two eggs it also clones a duplicate Cockroach. The jump from x3 to x10 with no x4 through x9 in between is the headline detail: the engine's max-payout path is gated behind landing those rare triple upgrades.

Two bonus tiers fork off the Scatter trigger. Three Scatters give 8+ Walk the Line spins with each round starting from a 2-4-4-4-2 open layout and at least one guaranteed Cockroach. Four Scatters jump straight into The Chair instead with 8+ spins, a fully open 4-4-4-4-4 starting layout and three guaranteed Cockroaches every round. Catching a Scatter on reel 5 during Walk the Line upgrades any remaining spins into The Chair, and any multipliers already accumulated stay with their Cockroaches through the upgrade.

Toast Bet is the xBet booster, named after death-row slang. It costs +20% on the stake to guarantee a Scatter on reel 2 every spin. The feature buy menu runs five options deep with explicit odds disclosure on three of them: Walk The Line, The Chair, then Lucky Draw at 99/1, 80/20 and 50/50 splits between the two bonus modes. The reel frame is wrought iron with rivets and rust, the title cast in metal letters across prison bars, and the background blurs out beige stone towers and cell blocks. Mid symbols are the inmate cast - orange jumpsuit, mugshot tattoos, the bald CASH-tattooed older prisoner, the red-haired woman - with A-K-Q-J-10 lows styled in cell bars and chains. The 75,000x ceiling puts it in the studio's top tier alongside San Quentin 2 and the Mental line.
