I recently spent some time with Play'n GO's 3 Howls of Madness Power Collect (due out in January 2027). It's a horror-themed slot that leans heavily into the familiar coin-collect mechanic, but with a clever twist in the bonus round that definitely sets it apart from the crowd. Here are my thoughts on how it all fits together.

3 Howls of Madness Power Collect 5x4 board at night, the werewolf Collector on reel one pulling a gold coin off the reels, with the Grand, Major, Minor and Mini coin ladder on the left
This is the meeting the whole base game hangs on: a Collector on the same spin as the coins, and only then do they pay.

The Base Game

The base game can test your patience. Like a lot of games in this genre, you'll see plenty of cash coins land on the reels (carrying values up to a massive 2,000x), but they simply vanish if a Collector symbol doesn't land on the exact same spin.

That restriction can make the game feel pretty dry, because a coin with no Collector beside it pays nothing at all. You just have to spin and wait for the colored Lunar Rings to do their thing.

A coin with nobody to collect it. It pays nothing and it's gone on the next spin, whatever value it carries.

The Bonus: Three Rings, Three Powers

The game completely redeems itself with its free spins feature. You're looking for blue, red, or purple Lunar Rings to land. Each ring can independently trigger 10 free spins with its own unique modifier. The really cool part? Because they trigger independently, they can fire on the same spin, merging together to create seven different variations of the bonus round.

  • The Red Ring (Crimson Collector): This completely fixes the frustration of the base game. It drops a walking collector on the rightmost reel that stays for the whole bonus, moving around and scooping up every single coin that lands.
  • The Purple Ring (Arcane Wilds): This one guarantees one to three random wilds on every single free spin.
  • The Blue Ring (Frost Multiplier): This is the key to the game's massive potential. It adds a multiplier that increases by 1x for every winning payline. Best of all, it applies to both line wins and collected coins, and it doesn't reset until the free spins end.

The only downside to the bonus is that the rings don't appear during free spins, meaning you can't retrigger the round. Once your 10 spins are up, you're back to the base game.

Each ring that completes its Gaze lights its own power, and any mix of the three can go into one round. That's where the seven versions of the free spins come from.

How it Compares

If the name sounds familiar, Play'n GO's Cursed Moon Power Collection shares the horror theme and the coin-and-collector setup. However, while that older game used an expanding grid and capped the max win at 15,000x, 3 Howls sticks to a fixed 5x4 grid and doubles the top payout to a staggering 30,000x.

The coin-collect mechanic is everywhere right now, but Play'n GO is blowing the competition out of the water when it comes to potential. Similar games from providers like Playtech, Fazi, and Octoplay top out somewhere between about 2,150x and 3,250x.

Hitting that 30,000x max win is going to take a perfect storm: the rules don't spell out the route, but the Blue ring's Frost Multiplier, the game's one uncapped multiplier, is the obvious way to stretch the biggest coins or Wild lines that far.

If you get easily annoyed by "dead" coins in the base game and prefer buying your bonuses, this might not be for you.

The 30,000x ceiling is printed right on the splash, and it's the figure that puts this one well above the other coin-collect games.
