Backseat Gaming dropped Kamo Insect Hunter in October 2026, and it's a fun, cartoonish jungle adventure with a pretty brutal, but rewarding, core mechanic. If you've played Totem Tower Bonanza, you'll instantly recognize the setup: expanding wilds are the star of the show, but they only actually expand if they connect to a winning line.

How the Base Game Plays
The game plays on a 5x5 grid, and everything revolves around the Kamo Wild Reel. When it lands and actually completes a win, it expands, fires off nets to climb a 24-step global multiplier ladder, and then pays out your line wins.
The snag? It's strictly conditional. If the wild lands but doesn't connect to a win, it just sits there as a single symbol and does nothing. It can definitely be a little frustrating to see a wild land and not trigger, but when it does connect, it's a great feeling.

The Bonus Rounds (and Bonus Buys)
You need three to five Bonus symbols to trigger the free spins naturally, which come in three tiers. If you're impatient, you can buy straight into them. Here's how each one went when I bought it:
- Net Catch (100x buy): This is the base bonus, and the global multiplier resets after every spin. I'll be honest, this one can be rough. I bought it once and literally blanked for a 0x return. Wilds landed three times, but because nothing connected, they didn't expand and the multiplier never moved. It's highly volatile.
- Bug Hunt (200x buy): This is where the game gets interesting, because the multiplier doesn't reset. My buy paid out a little over the 200x cost, but it was almost entirely due to one big spin where three wild reels landed, bumped the multiplier to 8x, and paid 264x.
- Kamo Frenzy (500x buy): The premium bonus. The multiplier is persistent, and the wild reels become sticky, firing fresh nets on every spin. It's a pricey buy, and my run only returned about a third of the cost, but you can easily see the potential here. I had a wild stick halfway through, and another joined on the last spin to push the multiplier to 9x. If you get those sticky wilds early, this feature would go crazy.

If you like to gamble, there's a Mystery Bonus for 170x that randomly gives you one of the three tiers. For base game players, you can use the Bonus Boost (costs 2x your bet and makes a bonus more likely, though the rules don't say by how much) or Scatter Spins (costs 50x and guarantees at least two scatters). I tried the 50x spin, triggered the base Net Catch bonus, and got about a fifth of my money back. Standard swingy slot stuff!

How It Compares to Other Games
If you're a slot nerd, you'll see a lot of familiar pieces here. It has the same 96.01% RTP and 10,000x max win as Totem Tower Bonanza (though Totem uses individual wild multipliers instead of a global ladder). The strict "conditional wild" mechanic also shows up in Backseat's Born in Hell (which has a higher 15,000x max win) and Hacksaw Gaming's LIT City.
It also has something in common with Backseat's Firelord. Both games feature a big global multiplier above the reels, but Firelord uses tumbling reels and a doubling multiplier, whereas Kamo uses a fixed ladder fed by the nets.
The Wild That Waits for a Line
Kamo Insect Hunter is a solid, highly volatile game. The persistent multipliers in the upper-tier bonuses give the slot its massive potential, but the conditional wilds govern every single spin. You have to make peace with the fact that a wild on the board doesn't mean anything until there's a line for it to complete. It can be a tough game, but when the stars align and the nets start firing, it's a blast to play.
