Backseat Gaming dropped Totem Tower Bonanza in August 2026, taking players into a jungle temple with a heavy focus on multiplier wilds. The game spreads its action across three distinct free spin tiers, and while there is some real potential here, your success relies almost entirely on what happens on the very first reel.

Totem Tower Bonanza Totem Rise free spin with two expanded Wild Totem Reels, 20x and 10x, on reels 3 and 4 of the 5x4 jungle temple board
This is the game when it clicks: two Wild Totems open into full reels in the middle, and their multipliers add up on every line that runs through both.

The Three Bonus Tiers and How They Play

The game offers three separate bonus buys, each giving you 10 spins (with no retriggers).

  • Jungle Ritual (100x your bet): Any Wild Totem that lands becomes sticky for the rest of the round.
  • Totem Rise (200x your bet): Wild Totems are restricted to the middle three reels, but they expand into full columns for a single spin before resetting.
  • Wild Totem Bonanza (400x your bet): The premium tier. It switches to its own reel set, where expanded wild columns become persistent: they stay expanded for the rest of the spins and upgrade their multipliers if another Wild Totem lands on them.
Wild Totem Bonanza final free spin with a sticky 2x Wild Totem Reel held on reel 2
In Wild Totem Bonanza an expanded reel stays put and opens again on every spin after it, so the earlier it lands, the more spins it gets to work.

If you prefer the base game, Bonus Boost costs 2x your bet and triples your chance of a natural trigger. There are also three Special Spin options costing 20x, 40x, and 80x your bet, which guarantee at least one, two or three Wild Totems on the middle reels.

However, there is a massive snag you need to be aware of: a Wild Totem only expands or multiplies if a winning line connects through it starting from reel one.

Jungle Ritual free spin with three sticky Wild Totems carrying 4x, 2x and 4x multipliers paying a line
Jungle Ritual keeps every Wild Totem where it landed but never expands it, so a sticky wild only pays when a line from reel one happens to cross its cell.

Because of this strict positional rule, the game is incredibly volatile. Special Spin 3 guarantees three Wild Totems for 80x your bet, and if no line from reel one can reach them, they stay unexpanded and the spin pays nothing. The bonuses carry the same risk. I had a 100x Jungle Ritual buy where I landed three sticky wilds early on, but because reel one kept bricking, it only returned about a sixth of my buy-in. My 200x Totem Rise buy was similarly brutal, handing back less than a tenth of its price after a long stretch of dead spins.

The 400x Wild Totem Bonanza is where the game truly shines and builds momentum, but even then, you need the symbols to drop early. It's the ultimate high-risk, high-reward setup: when the connections happen, the payouts are explosive, but you have to be prepared for the dry spells.

Where It Sits in the Backseat Catalogue

Like Toad Town, Moon Dynasty, and Strawberry Land, it runs at a standard 96.01% RTP and features the same 2x Bonus Boost.

Its closest neighbour on the buy menu is Hades Domain, which also sells a 2x Bonus Boost, Special Spins and three tiers of bonus. However, Hades Domain uses a scatter-pays format and boasts a higher 15,000x max win, compared to Totem's 10,000x.

Against its own studio's lineup, this game feels like a bit of a sideways step. Toad Town, for instance, offers a 12,500x max win and a ladder system that guarantees wild reels, while Moon Dynasty builds suspense by banking multipliers for one final spin.

Looking outside the studio, it plays a lot like Pragmatic Play's Zeus vs Hades - Gods of War, which has the exact same frustrating-but-thrilling geometry where wild reels on the right are useless without a starting symbol on the left. You could also compare it to Mancala Gaming's Cactus Crew: Wild Duels, which matches the 10,000x potential but actually merges the expanding and sticky wild mechanics into one feature, rather than splitting them across two different price points like Totem does.

Who Should Climb the Tower

Totem Tower Bonanza is a solid, albeit unforgiving, slot. The persistent wild columns in the 400x tier are a fantastic mechanic when they finally get going. However, because the game's best feature is also its most expensive purchase, the cheaper bonus rounds can sometimes feel a bit hollow. It's definitely a game for players who enjoy extreme volatility and don't mind risking dead spins for the chance at a big setup.

A bought bonus pays out as one sum at the end, and with sticky wilds that never line up, ten spins can finish far short of the price.
