Mines+ is Pragmatic Play's second arcade release after Plinko+, and it's the simplest game in their catalog. A 5x5 grid, 25 tiles, some hiding diamonds, some hiding bombs. Pick tiles, collect multipliers, cash out before you hit a mine. That's it.
The game launched January 29, 2026, and it does zero to dress up the core concept. No bonus rounds, no free spins, no symbols spinning on reels. Every round is one continuous decision: keep picking or take the money.
Before each round, you choose how many mines to hide on the grid - anywhere from 1 to 24. This single choice determines everything about the round's risk profile and payout structure.
With 1 mine, the first pick pays 1.02x. Safe, boring, barely above breakeven. Clear all 24 safe tiles and you'll earn 24.38x. With 5 mines, the same progression starts at 1.22x but the 20th pick (clearing every safe tile) pays 51,801x. At 12 mines, clearing all 13 safe tiles pays the game's maximum: 5,070,293x your bet.
The multipliers aren't random. They're fixed for every combination of mine count and picks made. You see the next payout before clicking, so every tile is a calculated bet, not a spin of the wheel.
RTP sits at 97.50%, which is well above the 94-96% range typical for online slots. The house edge is 2.5% regardless of how many mines you select or when you cash out. The math is symmetric - aggressive play and conservative play return the same percentage over time. What changes is the variance.
Bets start at 0.01 and go up to 250. No ante modes, no multiplied stakes. Straightforward.
The "Pick Random" button lets the game choose tiles for you. Same odds, just removes the illusion of spatial strategy. Where you click on the grid doesn't affect outcomes - mine positions are set before the round begins.
Cashout is available after every successful pick. The risk-reward inflection point depends on mine count. With 3 mines, the first few picks pay barely above your bet. Around pick 15, multipliers start accelerating. With 10+ mines, each pick carries significant risk but the multiplier jumps are dramatic - the difference between pick 9 and pick 10 with 10 mines is 397x versus 1,061x.
Hacksaw Gaming has their own Mines (Dare2Win series) with configurable grid sizes from 3x3 to 9x9, an RTP of 98%, and a 10,000x cap. PP's version is simpler - fixed 5x5 grid, no grid size options - but the max win ceiling is orders of magnitude higher at over 5 million x. If you want flexibility, Hacksaw's version has more settings. If you want the bigger theoretical payout, Mines+ is the pick.
