The xPays cluster mechanic debuts on this 6x6 Mayan grid where matching symbols starting from reel 1 stick and others drop away, Colossal 2x2 and 3x3 blocks carry x4 to x500 multipliers, and a dice roll at the start of Free Spins decides both the initial Vine Multiplier and how much each filled row raises it. About Monkey's Gold xPays Slot
The pay structure is a strange hybrid. It's cluster pays by name, but the trigger reads more like a ways rule: at least three matching symbols connected starting from reel 1, with the chain reaching reel 3 at minimum. Once that lands, winning symbols stay put, the rest get cleared, and fresh symbols drop in to fill the gaps. Each new drop only counts if the new symbols connect on adjacent reels to the existing cluster. The chain ends when nothing new sticks, and the payout is the number of collected symbols multiplied by that symbol's value. Bonus symbols sit out of the math, they stay on the reels during the drops but don't count toward starting or continuing an xPays chain.
The Colossal Symbol layer is where the variance shows up. During any free drop a 2x2 or 3x3 oversized block can land, and each carries a multiplier somewhere from x4 to x500. Any symbol with a multiplier counts as multiple symbols instead of one, so a 3x3 colossal painted x100 pays as nine symbols at one hundred times the value rather than as a single icon. If the block leaves empty cells underneath when it lands, Wilds fill them. Regular Wilds substitute for everything except the Bonus and inherit whatever multiplier the symbol they're standing in for is carrying.
Three Bonus symbols award 10 free spins, with +3 spins per extra Bonus on the trigger and +1 spin for any Bonus landing during the round. The opening dice roll sets the variance tone. It decides two things at once: the starting value of the Vine Multiplier, and whether each future row fill raises it by x1, x2 or x3. A high roll on both axes leaves you with a meter sitting at a healthy base that's also climbing fast every row. A low roll keeps things grounded for the whole feature. The Vine Multiplier is sticky and gets applied to the total win when the drops run out. Symbol Upgrade fires on the same row-fill trigger: every collected symbol bumps one tier toward the premium end of the paytable, and the highest-paying one gets an additional multiplier slapped onto it. A direct Bonus Buy costs -2% off the base return, unusually cheap for a feature with this much variance leverage.
The reels sit between two enormous Mayan stone idol guardians, weathered grey statues with carved eyes on both sides of the grid. Leafy green vines crawl across the borders above and below, and the background is a foggy jungle of ferns and mossy pre-Columbian ruins. Mid-pay symbols are colored mask tiki idols in orange, blue, green and yellow, with the orange demon mask at the top of the paytable. Lows are A K Q J carved into the same stone-tablet style with red, blue, green and orange gem accents. May 2020 release, sitting in the studio's experimental jungle treasure branch.
