Oxygen 2 keeps the 6x7 cluster grid and the oxygen bubble multiplier system from the original. Positions still track wins and double their multiplier each time (up to x2048). Bubbles still persist between free drops in the bonus. What changed are the features that manipulate those multipliers.
The Collector and Dealer from Oxygen are gone. In their place: Jellyfish and Octopus. The swap isn't cosmetic. The original's multiplier manipulation was positional (Collector absorbed nearby values, Dealer amplified in a V-shape). The sequel's approach is more random and more explosive.
One or more Jellyfish arrive carrying multiplier values and stop at random positions on the grid. If the landing position already has a multiplier, the values interact: the existing multiplier gets added to the Jellyfish, and the Jellyfish's value gets added to the position. It's a swap-and-add mechanic that redistributes multiplier values across the grid rather than concentrating them.
In the Super Bonus, Jellyfish trigger every single free drop. That means every spin redistributes and amplifies multiplier values. By mid-round, the grid is covered in high-value bubbles because the Jellyfish keep shuffling and boosting them.
The Octopus hides behind one symbol position. When you win on that position while multipliers exist elsewhere on the grid, the Octopus grabs a random selection of those external multipliers and adds them to the winning cluster's total. It's a pull mechanic that rewards having multipliers spread across the board.
In the bonus, the Octopus is persistent and moves to a random position each free drop. So every bonus spin has a chance that the Octopus position lines up with a winning cluster and pulls in multiplier values from across the grid.
Exploding Wilds and X-Blaster Wilds return. The new addition is Super Exploding Wild, which does everything the standard Exploding Wild does plus activates any unactivated oxygen bubbles behind the exploded symbols. That's important - it means the Super Exploding Wild doesn't just clear space, it primes positions for future multiplier building without needing a win on them first.
The retrigger system adds a progression path: 4 bonus symbols during the bonus upgrade a regular bonus to Super Bonus plus 7 free drops. Three bonus symbols add 5 drops, two add 3. The upgrade path means even a standard bonus can evolve into the stronger variant mid-round.
Hit frequency dropped from 36% to 29% compared to the original. You win less often, but the Jellyfish and Octopus create bigger swings when you do. The 25,000x cap remains the same. X-iter tiers match the feature set: 25x guarantees Octopus with Multiplier Strike, 500x gives the full Super Bonus with both Jellyfish and Octopus every spin.
