Shadow Shifter replaces standard cascading mechanics with something physical. When a winning combination of three or more identical symbols lands in a horizontal line, the game generates a column pusher. That pusher shoves the winning column one position upward, creating a new row at the bottom. More wins mean more pushers. More pushers mean a taller grid.
The base grid starts at 5 columns by 4 rows. Each push adds height. The ceiling is 8 rows. Once a column reaches maximum, further pushers on that column still activate but can't grow it further. The cycle runs until no new horizontal matches form.
Each column carries its own multiplier, starting inactive. Every time a column gets pushed, its multiplier increases by x1. Land a win across three columns with multipliers at x3, x2, and x1, and those values add together - x6 applied to the entire payout.
These multipliers persist through the entire win cycle and carry into the bonus. In a good chain, column multipliers climb to x4 or x5 before the cycle ends. In the bonus, they carry over between all free spins, so they start high and keep climbing.
Only five payout symbols. The top symbol pays 5,000 coins for a 5-in-a-row (50x on a standard bet). The second pays 1,500. Then a steep drop: symbols 2-4 pay between 40 and 500 coins. That concentration means the game's payout profile is binary - either the premium symbols connect, or the win is negligible.
Symbols also carry multipliers baked into the symbol data: x2, x3, x5, or x10. These multiply on top of column multipliers. A premium symbol with a x5 tag on a column with x3 multiplier produces x15 on a single line. The layered multiplication is where big numbers come from.
Standard wilds substitute as expected. Expanding Wilds replace every symbol on their column (except bonus and both-ways symbols), which pairs well with the push mechanic - a full column of wilds pushed upward keeps the chain alive across multiple rows.
The Both Ways symbol enables all paylines to pay right-to-left in addition to the standard left-to-right while it stays visible. On a wide grid, this doubles the number of paying lines. When it appears during a push chain with active column multipliers, payout opportunities spike.
Three bonus symbols trigger 5 free spins. Column multipliers and unused pushers persist when entering the bonus and between every free spin. One additional bonus symbol during the bonus awards +2 extra spins.
The Super Bonus (500x buy-in) starts with the grid already at maximum 8 rows and all column multipliers set to x5. That's a head start most games don't offer - every win from spin one hits with at least x5 from each contributing column, and it only grows from there.
Five X-iter options range from Bonus Hunt at 3x (tripled trigger chance) through Super Spin at 50x (max rows plus x5 multipliers for a single spin) to the full Super Bonus at 500x.
