Two masked assassins land on the same reel, fight, and the survivor hands over their multiplier. That single image is the whole of Shadows Inc: a VS symbol swallows its reel, turns it Wild and stamps anything from 2x to 500x on the payout, with 15,000x live in the base game as well as the three bonus tiers.

Shadows Inc Slot Overview
Two masked assassins land on the same reel, fight, and the one still standing hands over their multiplier. Everything in Shadows Inc runs through that single image.
The setting is a neon dystopia run by a syndicate of killers, played out on a 5x4 grid with 14 fixed paylines. VS symbols do the work. Land one, and if its expansion would be part of a win it swallows the whole reel, turns it Wild, and stamps a multiplier on the payout. Those multipliers run from 2x up to 500x. The ceiling is 15,000x and it is live in the base game as well as the bonuses, which is not something every game printing that number can say.
It is the newest entry in Hacksaw's DuelReels line, the mechanic that started back in Wanted Dead or a Wild and has been reworked half a dozen times since.
Theme & Design
The background is a vertical smear of magenta and violet, like neon bleeding down a wet alley wall, and the two slayers framing the grid are drawn almost entirely in greyscale. On the left, a figure in a conical straw hat with a long blade slung over one shoulder. On the right, a bulky hooded bruiser with a glowing pink power symbol where a face should be. Colour is rationed to the reels.
Those reels sit inside a heavy brushed-steel housing with visible screws and vent slots, over near-black cells. The symbols split into two worlds: the five lows are flat graffiti glyphs (a purple cube, green diagonal stripes, a dripping pink heart, blue hexagons, a green X) while the highs are painted properly, a shuriken on a circuit-etched disc, a gold skull, a golden armoured slayer haloed in acid green, a purple-hooded punk, and an orange horned oni mask sitting on top of the paytable. The Wild is a sprayed W, the scatter a sprayed FS, and the Best of Bonus a red starburst badge that lands like a sticker slapped onto the reel. It all looks sharp. It also looks like six other Hacksaw games, and the greyscale-character-against-hot-neon pose has stopped being a stylistic decision and become a house default.

Features & How They Work
Slayer DuelReels
A VS symbol only wakes up if expanding would make it part of a win. When it does, it covers its entire reel, two slayers appear carrying different multipliers, and they fight. The survivor's multiplier applies across the whole reel, and that reel turns fully Wild.
And the duel is a coin flip. It is not 'the bigger number wins', which is how it gets described everywhere and how the animation makes it feel. The smaller multiplier takes the fight often enough that a 250x facing a 3x is a proper gamble rather than a formality, and nothing on screen warns you about it.
The possible values are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x and 500x. One VS per reel, maximum. If several duels feed the same win the surviving multipliers are added before they multiply the line, so three duels landing 3x, 2x and 3x give x8, not x18. Cover all five reels and the entire grid counts as Wild.
Three bonuses, one scatter apart
The scatter count decides which free spins round you get, and they differ in kind rather than in length. Three FS is RISE OF THE SYNDICATE: 10 spins with a much higher chance of VS symbols landing. Four is WILD SLAYERS, also 10 spins, and it brings in the Slicer, which drops a full row of Wilds on a random row whenever a VS lands. Five is ONE SLAYER TO SLAY THEM ALL, keeping the Wild Slayers rules and guaranteeing both a duel and the Slicer on every single spin.
That top tier has one catch worth knowing: FS symbols do not appear inside it at all, so it cannot retrigger. The other two can. Two extra scatters award 2 spins, three award 4.
Best of Bonus
A red badge scatter that only shows up in the base game. Land it at the same time as the scatters needed for a bonus and the trigger upgrades: three rounds of that bonus are played back to back, each result is posted to a scoreboard beside the grid, and only the highest of the three is paid. Two flat rounds and one good one still pays the good one. It applies to all three tiers, including the five-scatter version.
Seven buy cards, two different products
The menu is a trap for anyone skimming it. Three entries are FeatureSpins, and the button reading ACTIVATE instead of BUY is the only tell: they are a per-spin surcharge charged on every spin until you press DISABLE, not a one-off. BONUSHUNT costs 3x per spin and makes a bonus five times likelier. DUO DUEL is 60x per spin and guarantees at least two VS symbols. TROUBLE TRIO is 110x per spin for three or more. Scatters cannot land at all on the last two.
The four one-off bonus buys are Rise of the Syndicate at 100x, Wild Slayers at 200x, Best of Rise of the Syndicate at 200x and Best of Wild Slayers at 400x. Each publishes its own RTP, and they run backwards to expectation: the cheapest returns the most at 96.38%, the 400x option the least at 96.26%. Neither version of the five-scatter bonus is for sale at any price.
How Shadows Inc Plays
The line pays are close to decorative. Five of the top symbol returns 10x the bet on a game advertising 15,000x, and the five lows pay identically to one another, so most spins that technically win hand back small change. The whole thing waits on a VS symbol. Until one arrives the reels are scenery.
When one does arrive the rhythm snaps over. A reel goes Wild, every line running through it pays at once, and one duel turns a scrap of a win into something worth watching. The tension sits in a two-second animation with two numbers on screen and no way to read which survives. Seeing a 7 put down a 10 stings more than a dry spin ever does.
The game sits at the top of its own volatility scale and labels every buy card Extreme, and the 10-spin rounds are short enough that a cold one is finished before it starts. That is the deal on offer: long flat stretches, then everything at once. The 3x bonus hunt is probably the most sensible way in, since it keeps the base game moving without the all-or-nothing of a 400x commitment.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Three bonus tiers that change the mechanics, not just the spin count
- Best of Bonus plays three rounds and pays only the best, priced as three for the price of two
- The 15,000x ceiling is reachable in the base game, not locked behind free spins
- Every buy option publishes its own RTP, and the cheapest bonus is the strongest at 96.38%
Cons
- Line pays are tiny, with the top symbol returning 10x for five and all five lows paying the same
- The buy menu mixes one-off purchases with per-spin FeatureSpins charges, distinguished only by the button label
- The best bonus, One Slayer to Slay Them All, cannot be bought and needs five scatters
- Shares its entire spec sheet and most of its mechanics with an existing Hacksaw title
Is Shadows Inc Worth Playing?
Shadows Inc carries the same headline numbers as Slayers Inc from 2024, right down the line: 96.28% RTP, 15,000x, 5x4, 14 paylines, the same volatility band. Five for five. That is the same math model wearing a new coat, and it is fair to say so. What has been rebuilt is the bonus ladder, and that part is good work, three tiers that escalate in mechanics with the Best of scoreboard layered over all of them.
Where it falls short is novelty. Players who have worked through the DuelReels catalogue will recognise almost everything here inside ten spins, and the 500x on the multiplier list is worth less than it looks when it still has to win a fight to reach you. Not a step forward for the studio, but a well-drawn, genuinely nasty version of a mechanic that already works.
