Strength of Hercules is the fourth game in Hacksaw's RotoGrid series, following Twisted Lab, Mr Melker, and Pat the Rat. The mechanic is simple in concept: a special RotoGrid symbol triggers 1-3 clockwise quarter-turn rotations of the entire 5x5 grid. Every symbol shifts position. New winning combinations form mid-rotation. After the rotations complete, the RotoGrid symbol turns into a wild.
Ways-to-win pays replace fixed paylines here, which means rotations create wins from angles that payline-based versions couldn't. Up to three RotoGrid symbols land per spin, and their rotations are stored in a meter and executed one at a time. New wins get processed between each rotation before the next one fires.
After each rotation, wilds on the same reel check if they can connect. If two wilds sit on reel 3 with gaps between them, every position in between fills with additional wilds. These new wilds participate in the next rotation, where they might connect with wilds on adjacent reels. In the right situation, this chain reaction fills large sections of the grid with wilds from a single RotoGrid trigger.
Might of Hercules adds another layer. After the grid settles, there's a chance Hercules strikes - picking a random low-pay symbol and replacing all instances of it with wilds. It's not guaranteed, but when it fires on top of Connecting Wilds, the coverage gets dense.
Three scatters offer a choice between Labors (10 free spins) or Labyrinth (8 free spins). Four scatters upgrade both options - Godly Labors and Godly Labyrinth with better symbol distributions and higher-value outcomes.
Labors runs like an enhanced base game. Same RotoGrid and Connecting Wilds mechanics, but wilds and RotoGrid symbols appear more often. Retriggering adds 2-4 more spins. Straightforward and effective if you want more of the core gameplay loop.
Labyrinth is the interesting pick. The grid fills with Skull Blocks (obstacles), Cracked Stones (breakable), coins with values from 1x to 100x, and multiplying coins (x2 through x20). Five Treasure Chests sit at the bottom, one per reel, each starting at 0x.
Coins fall downward through Cracked Stones toward the chests below. Skull Blocks stop their movement. The grid rotates both clockwise and counter-clockwise during Labyrinth rounds, physically shifting the maze and sending coins on different paths. Might of Hercules destroys Skull Blocks and sometimes spawns new coins where they were.
Adding coins increase a chest's value. Multiplying coins multiply it. A chest that's accumulated 15x from adding coins gets hit by a x10 multiplying coin and jumps to 150x. The final payout sums all five chest values and multiplies by the bet. Scatter symbols collected during the round award extra spins on top of the starting 8.
The RotoGrid series went from quirky themes (a lab, a Swedish fisherman, a rat) to Greek mythology. The visual upgrade is clear - golden temple architecture, detailed Hercules character art, stone-carved symbols. The 36% hit frequency keeps base game action steady between bonus triggers. Five FeatureSpins options range from a 5x bonus likelihood boost to guaranteed RotoGrid symbols to direct bonus purchases at both tier levels.
