Twisted Lab introduces a mechanic that most slots don't have: the entire grid physically rotates. When a RotoGrid symbol lands (carrying 1 to 4 charges), the 5x5 grid turns 90 degrees clockwise per charge. All wins from the original position are calculated first, then the grid flips and wins are recalculated from the new arrangement. Four charges means four full rotations, with wins evaluated at each stop.
That rotation does something clever with the Oozing Beakers. These flask-shaped wild symbols sit on the grid normally, but when the grid rotates, they tip over and break. Their contents spill downward from where they rest, turning every position below into a wild. A beaker near the top of a reel covers more positions than one near the bottom. The grid rotation changes which direction "down" is, so a beaker that originally sat in the middle of a row might end up at the top of a column after rotation, covering five positions with wild symbols.
Purple Beakers create standard wilds. Blue Beakers add multiplier values to the ooze: 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, up to 100x. When a Blue Beaker's ooze overlaps with another beaker's spill zone, the multiplier applies to the entire combined area. Pink Beakers multiply existing multiplier values by 2x through 10x. A Blue Beaker adding 50x combined with a Pink Beaker multiplying by 5x creates a 250x wild zone. These interactions compound across multiple rotations.
The paytable itself is modest: low symbols pay 0.1x to 1x for five of a kind, highs reach 2x to 5x, and the wild flask pays 10x. The game's math relies entirely on beaker-boosted multiplier wilds landing across paylines.
Three scatter symbols trigger 10 free spins with increased RotoGrid and beaker frequency. Purple Beakers are removed from the reel set entirely, so every beaker that lands carries either an additive or multiplicative multiplier. This changes the free spins dynamic significantly: every rotation event creates multiplier wilds instead of standard ones.
Four scatters trigger a completely different bonus. The grid transforms into a collect-style game where only Twisters, Collectors, RotoGrid symbols, and blank spaces appear. Blue Twisters display four multiplier values on their sides (one visible at a time), and grid rotation changes which value faces the player. Values range from 1x up to 1,000x. Pink Twisters work the same way but also carry multiplicative values (x2 through x10).
You start with 3 lives. Each new Twister or Collector that lands resets the counter to 3. When a Collector symbol appears, it grabs all visible Twister values on the grid. The 15,000x ceiling is realistic here: a few Twisters showing 100x or 1,000x values, multiplied by a Pink Twister at x5 or x10, creates the kind of total that hits five figures.
Twisted Lab earned positive reviews for its RotoGrid concept, and the ~35% hit frequency makes it feel active for a high-volatility Hacksaw game. Five different buy bonus tiers (from 3x for BonusHunt up to 200x for The Twist of the Twisted) offer flexibility. The criticism is valid though: the interaction between grid rotation, three beaker colors, and two fundamentally different bonus modes creates a lot to track. The learning curve is steep, but the mechanics reward anyone willing to push through the first few sessions.
