Sugar Rush (vs20cm) is the original 2018 Pragmatic Play candy slot - and it shares almost nothing with the 2022 game that made the name famous. No 7x7 grid. No cluster pays. No multiplier spots. This is a straightforward 5-reel, 3-row, 20-payline game built in an era when PP was still making traditional slots. If you landed here expecting the popular version, this isn't it.
The game runs on PP's old pre-v3 engine with 96.52% RTP at the highest tier (variable RTP ranges down to 93.97% at some casinos). Medium volatility. Candy village backdrop with sweet-themed symbols.
The wild is a gingerbread man - stacks on all reels and substitutes for everything except the bonus cupcake and the scatter gummy bear. Five wilds on a payline pay 1,000 coins, making it the highest-value symbol. The top regular symbol pays 450 for five of a kind, dropping to 75 for the lowest pair of symbols.
Three or more gummy bear scatters anywhere on the grid trigger free spins. The scatter count determines the award: 3 scatters give 10 spins, 4 give 15, and 5 give 20. Scatter wins (10-20 coins for 3-5 symbols) add to payline wins. Free spins use the same reels as the base game.
Three or more cupcake symbols on an active payline open a bonus game that awards random points within a fixed range. It's not a pick game - the prize is randomly determined within these brackets:
Maximum combined potential from cupcakes in a single spin: 9,000 bonus points. The range-based mechanic means two identical cupcake triggers can pay dramatically different amounts. Bonus wins multiply by total bet, while payline wins multiply by bet per line.
Pragmatic Play released the 7x7 cluster pay Sugar Rush in June 2022, which became one of their biggest hits. That game's multiplier spots mechanic, massive cluster potential, and streaming popularity completely overshadowed this earlier title. Both games still exist in PP's catalog, but searching for "Sugar Rush Pragmatic Play" returns the 2022 version almost exclusively.
The original Sugar Rush also spawned seasonal variants - Sugar Rush Summer Time and Sugar Rush Winter - sharing the same 5x3 payline structure with different visual themes. All three play identically.
Nine paying symbols, a wild, a scatter, and a bonus trigger. No cascading wins, no multiplier features, no ante bet, no buy option. The paytable ranges from 1,000 coins (5 wilds) down to 75 coins (5 low symbols) per line, with payouts starting at three of a kind. At $0.01 per line on minimum bet, the base payouts are small. The cupcake bonus and free spins carry most of the upside potential.
For a 2018 release, the candy village art style holds up. But the game has no modern hooks to keep pace with PP's current output. It exists mainly as a curiosity - the original holder of a name that now belongs to a completely different game.
