3 Mad Mummies: Hold & Win Slot Overview
Three cartoon mummies sit in medallions above the reels, and each one has a job. Collect scoops up every cash prize on screen, Mystery hands over a prize or a jackpot, and Multi drops a multiplier on the reel below it. Gems land, gems get thrown at them, and if one of the three properly wakes up the game tips into a hold-and-win round where the coins lock down.
Read the 5x5 grid carefully, because it isn't one. The top row spins sideways as its own reel and only takes Gems, Special Mummies, Wilds and blanks, none of which ever appear below it. What you're actually playing is a 5x4 with 20 fixed lines and a modifier strip bolted across the top.
OctoPlay put this out in August 2026 at 95.81% RTP, with a 4,040x ceiling and no buy button anywhere in the UI. Stakes run from 0.10 up to 200 EUR.
Theme & Design
Full daylight Ancient Egypt, which already puts it in a crowded room. Two pyramids under a pale sky, a palm frond leaning into the right edge, and the reels set in a fat gold frame over deep maroon. Down the left rail the jackpot plates stack in their own colours, gold GRAND 1000x at the top running down through purple MINOR to blue MINI 25x, so the ceiling is never out of your eyeline.
The mummies are the best thing here. Three grinning heads with bulging eyes under striped nemes headdresses, red for Collect, teal for Mystery, blue for Multi, each drawn like a Saturday-morning cartoon villain rather than anything remotely menacing. Below them the symbols are chunky and glossy: a turquoise-inlaid scarab, the Eye of Horus, crossed crook and flail, and then card royals as fat coloured letters. That last part is where the budget shows. Loud, cheerful, and about as atmospheric as a beach towel.
Symbols & Paytable
| Symbol | Payout |
|---|---|
| Wild | 50.00x for fiveHorizontal reel only. Turns every symbol on the reel beneath it into a Wild, and substitutes everything except Golden Coins. |
| Top premium | 3.00x / 6.00x / 20.00x for 3/4/5The ornate gold pieces (scarab, Eye of Horus, crook and flail) make up the four premium slots. |
| Second premium | 1.50x / 3.00x / 10.00x for 3/4/5 |
| Third premium | 1.00x / 2.00x / 5.00x for 3/4/5 |
| Fourth premium | 0.50x / 1.00x / 2.00x for 3/4/5 |
| Card royals (all five) | 0.20x / 0.50x / 1.00x for 3/4/5Every low symbol pays the same, so the bottom of the paytable is completely flat. |
| Golden Coin | 1x to 5x the stakeIn the base game the value pays only if a Collect Mummy lands on the same spin. |
| Mystery Mummy reveal | 7x, 10x, 15x, 20x, or one of the five jackpots up to 1000x |
Features & How They Work
The Horizontal Reel
The top row spins sideways instead of down, and it holds a different symbol set entirely: Gems, Special Mummies, Wilds and blanks. Nothing else lands there, and none of those four ever land on the vertical reels. It is the whole modifier layer of the game, gathered into one strip.
Wilds live up there too. When one lands it converts every symbol on the reel directly beneath it into a Wild, so a single Wild takes a full column. Five of them on a line pay 50x, the biggest number in the paytable by a distance.
Golden Coins and the Collect Mummy
Golden Coins carry 1x to 5x the stake and up to nine can land on one base-game spin. On their own they pay nothing. A Collect Mummy has to land on that same spin to sweep them up, and if it doesn't, a board full of coins is worth exactly zero.
Multi Mummy
Multi applies x2, x3 or x5 to the reel underneath it, and in the base game that multiplier hits any win line running through a multiplied position. Land more than one on the same line and the values add rather than multiply, so x5 alongside x3 is x8, not x15. Dropped onto a Golden Coin position, the multiplier applies to that coin's cash prize instead.
Hold & Win
Two roads in. Any of the three mummies activates at random on any spin, with a matching Gem landing giving that mummy its chance, or six or more Golden Coin and Mystery Mummy symbols land together in a single spin. Trigger it through a mummy and the game adds Golden Coins to the board until there are at least six, so the round never opens on a bare grid.
Three respins, and any non-empty symbol landing resets the counter back to three. The paying symbols vanish completely; only coins, mummies, Gems and blanks remain, with up to five coins per respin. Coins, Collect Mummies and Mystery Mummies lock in place, and everything on the board is collected in one go at the end. When several Special Mummies land in the same respin they resolve in fixed order: Multi first, then Mystery, then Collect. That order matters, because the multiplier is already sitting on the reel when the reveal and the collect run.
The Five Jackpots
Mini 25x, Minor 50x, Major 100x, Mega 250x, Grand 1000x, all awarded through a Mystery Mummy revealing a symbol carrying that jackpot's name. Fixed is the word to hold on to: these are static multiples of your stake, not pooled progressives, so the Grand pays 1,000x whatever you happen to be betting and never a penny more. It is also not the top of the game. The 4,040x max win sits four times higher, which means the biggest rounds come out of a loaded board of coins and multipliers rather than a single jackpot award.
Extra Chance
The ante button doubles your total stake for more than triple the chance of hitting Hold & Win. Both RTP figures are printed in the game itself: 95.82% with Extra Chance on, 95.81% with it off. You pay 100% more per spin and buy back one hundredth of a percentage point. What the money actually buys is frequency and a reshaped volatility curve, not value, and at least the game is upfront enough to show you both numbers.

How 3 Mad Mummies: Hold & Win Plays
The reels themselves are dull, and the game seems to know it. Five low symbols paying identically means most winning spins hand back less than the stake, and the best line in the whole paytable is 20x. So attention drifts upward within about ten spins, off the grid and onto the three heads in their medallions, waiting for one of them to do something.
That is the actual rhythm. Long flat stretches, punctuated by a gem flying at a mummy, then usually nothing anyway. The game is unusually candid about this, stating outright that the mummy animations are entertainment and have no bearing on whether the feature fires. Refreshing, and slightly deflating, since watching those animations is most of what the base game gives you to do.
The bonus plays better. The resetting respin counter does its job, boards keep almost dying and then don't, and because nothing pays until the very end the total stays hidden until the last coin drops. Sessions probably live or die on how often you see that round, which is a lot of weight to put on a feature with no way to buy in.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The horizontal modifier reel puts something worth watching above the grid on every spin
- Hold & Win never opens thin, since a mummy trigger tops the board up to at least six symbols
- Jackpots are fixed stake multiples, so they scale with your bet instead of chasing a pooled meter
- The game publishes its own RTP, max win and full rules in plain readable text
Cons
- 95.81% RTP sits below what most players now treat as standard
- Extra Chance doubles the stake and returns 0.01 percentage points of RTP
- Flat base game: all five low symbols pay the same and 20x is the top line pay
- No buy feature, so there is no way to reach the bonus on demand
Is 3 Mad Mummies: Hold & Win Worth Playing?
OctoPlay built a competent hold-and-win around one idea that earns its place. The horizontal reel keeps every modifier in a single strip you can read at a glance instead of scattering them through the grid, and splitting the trigger three ways gives each activation its own character before anything resolves. Egyptian coin-lock slots are not scarce, and the top strip is a better answer to the format than most of them manage.
The problems are on the balance sheet. Return is modest for a 2026 release, and the stretch between features is thin enough that autoplay starts looking sensible about twenty spins in. The five jackpot plates down the rail are furniture more than a target, awarded as they are through one reveal that has to land at the right moment. Fun to watch. Less fun to total up at the end of a session.
