About Golden Avalon Hold & Win Slot

TrueWays and Hold & Win in the Same Slot

Golden Avalon Hold & Win stacks two things that don't often share a slot: a genuinely dynamic ways mechanic and a multi-mode Hold & Win bonus. The 6x8 grid uses BGaming's TrueWays™ system, where each reel is divided into variable-height segments every spin. Ways to win range from a few dozen to a maximum of 262,144. In one test spin, the game produced 27 ways. On a wider spin, it approached the thousands. The ways count updates live in the logo panel so you always know where you stand.

The TrueWays Mechanic in Practice

The reel heights aren't random cosmetic variation - they directly change what combinations are possible. When reels 3, 4, and 6 each show three segments and the others show one, you get 1×1×3×3×1×3 = 27 ways. When all reels open to eight single-row segments, you hit the 262,144 ceiling. The game plays differently depending on the configuration each spin produces. Low-way spins win smaller but resolve faster. High-way spins raise the probability of hitting a mix of character symbols and coin scatters simultaneously.

King Arthur, Merlin, the Lady of the Lake, and the Dragon appear as tall character symbols that can span their full reel height. In practice they fill large portions of the grid in a single spin.

Four Distinct Hold & Win Bonuses

Where most Hold & Win games run a single bonus variant, Golden Avalon runs four - each tied to one of the game's characters, each with distinct mechanics.

  • Arthur's Sword - when a reel fills with coins, those coins split into two smaller ones. Each coin may also pick up a random 2x-10x multiplier. Available to buy for 75x your bet.
  • Merlin's Staff - when a reel fills, each coin on it receives a random 2x-10x multiplier. Coins may also split. Buy for 75x your bet.
  • Lady of the Lake - runs both Arthur's Sword and Merlin's Staff mechanics simultaneously. Split AND multiply. Costs 200x your bet to buy in.
  • Dragon - the high-stakes option. Starts on a compressed 4x6 grid with 10 coins already placed. Both bonus mechanics activate on every filled reel. Buy price: 500x your bet.

The difference between Arthur and Merlin is essentially split-first versus multiply-first. The Lady combines both, and Dragon skips the trigger phase entirely by starting loaded. At €2 bet, the four buy prices run €150, €150, €400, and €1,000 respectively.

Jackpots and Coin Values

Four jackpot levels sit above the reels: Mini at 20x, Minor at 50x, Major at 100x, and Mega at 1,000x your bet. At €2, Mega pays €2,000. These are awarded during the respin, typically when the grid or specific conditions are met. The coin symbols carry fixed values, which increase via splitting and multiplication during the bonus. Hit frequency for the respin trigger isn't published, but the base game has a 1-in-20 chance per spin of entering bonus conditions according to the API data.

Base Game Numbers

RTP is 97.09%, well above average. Max win is 3,000x. Bet range runs €0.10 to €85.00, with 18 step options. The top regular symbol pays 4x per way for six-of-a-kind. Most of the win potential sits in the respin mechanics rather than the base game paytable.
