About Shields of the Wild Slot
Land three or more flaming Sword scatters and the Marching Stacks feature takes over, and it works nothing like a normal free spins count. Instead of awarding a fixed number of spins, the round fills the grid. A stack of one symbol drops onto reel 5. Every spin after that, if no special symbol lands, all current stacks shuffle one reel to the left and a fresh stack appears on reel 5 again. The round only ends once all five reels are packed with stacks, and at that point every line pays at once.
The upgrade mechanic is what gives the round teeth. During the feature, the Sword scatter is swapped out for a blue Upgrade orb on every reel. When one or more Upgrades land, the stacks freeze in place instead of marching, and each Upgrade bumps the stacked symbols up one rung on the paytable, from a wood shield toward the bull, the wolf, the roaring lion crest. The number of scatters that triggered the round sets your starting tier too: three scatters seed from the lower shields, five scatters start you several rungs higher. The game guarantees at least 20x your total bet by the time the reels are full, and a re-trigger can hand you a second run.
There is a second, quieter trick in the base game. The Shield Wall can fire at random after any spin, locking the reels and upgrading every paying symbol, except the Wild and Sword, up to eight times in a row before it settles and pays. No scatters needed, no warning, it just happens. The Wild here is the gold-and-red Shields of the Wild emblem with its own sword, and it stands in for everything but the two specials.
The setting leans hard into a heroic-medieval mood. The reels sit over a burnt-orange sunset battlefield, golden grass running to the horizon, distant warriors silhouetted under a rolling amber sky, an autumn tree on one side and an armoured knight braced on the other. Every symbol is a heraldic shield carrying an animal crest, lion, bull, wolf, bear, goat, painted in deep reds and worn metal. If the Saxon-battlefield tone clicks, Pillars of Asgard works the same Norse war palette.
