A Halloween paint job over a classic fruit machine, with one Joker doing all the work. Trick or Treat Joker lines up limes, cherries and cobwebbed sevens on a 5x3 grid, parks a burning graveyard behind them, and hands every interesting moment to a grinning jester that only turns up on the three middle reels.

Everything around that is deliberately old-fashioned. Ten fixed lines. No scatters, no free spins, no bonus buy. The one modern kindness is that lines pay both ways, so three limes starting on reel 5 pay the same as three starting on reel 1. That roughly doubles the number of ways a spin can return something, which matters a lot in a game running at 95.99% RTP with a ceiling of 923x.

Evoplay went hot instead of cold with Halloween. The sky burns orange behind the reels, lava churns along the bottom edge, and a graveyard sits in silhouette off to the right, leaning crosses and one enormous carved pumpkin with eyes glowing through the haze.

The best detail is the frame. Four cast-iron bat gargoyles clamp the corners of the black reel panel, wings spread, like they were prised off a church roof. Every fruit wears a white cobweb draped over it, a cheap trick that works, and the red sevens are the pick of the bunch: fat, gold-edged, webbing spun across the digits. The Joker is pure carnival, blue and red harlequin hat, green eyes, an unhinged grin, bursting out of a jack-o-lantern in the logo. When a respin fires the whole frame catches fire. None of this is remotely scary, and it isn't trying to be.

The rhythm is old-school and quick. Spins resolve almost instantly, turbo sits under a press-and-hold on the spin button, and the balance tends to drift down in small steps rather than fall off a shelf. Long stretches of nothing much, punctuated by tiny returns that barely cover the stake. Then a Joker drops in.

That drop is the whole game and Evoplay stages it properly, flames around the frame, RESPIN slammed across the middle, and for a couple of seconds a chain looks possible. Usually it stops at one. Two locked Jokers feels like a result. Three is rare, and even three can't quite pay what the moment promises, because the symbols sitting underneath them are worth so little. The high volatility tag is real in the sense that the dry patches bite, but you'll probably never see the swing size that label normally implies.

A seasonal fruit slot with one good trick that it commits to fully. The Joker respin is fun to hit, the both-way lines make a 10-line game feel busier than it is, and the artwork has more care in it than an October filler usually gets (those bat gargoyles again).

The problem is what happens after. Once three Jokers have locked and the reels have spun out, there is nothing further to reach for, and the paytable underneath is too thin to reward the setup. Trick or Treat Joker plays well for twenty minutes in late October. It has very little to hold anyone past that.
