Endorphina puts out a Hit Slot every year, and the 2024 one is a fruit machine dressed up for a New Year's party. Red theatre curtains, a heavy gold frame, cherries and bells and a red 7 with a flame burning inside it. The twist, such as it is, is a golden jester mask with the year stamped on a plaque under his chin.

That mask is the wild and it only turns up on the three middle reels. When it lands it fills its reel from top to bottom and stands in for everything except the two scatters, which is the one moment the game gets loud. Ten paylines, fixed, no trimming them down.

There are no free spins. The star and the horseshoe pay from wherever they land and then the spin is over, so the base game plus a card gamble and a set of network progressives is the entire package.

The reels sit in a thick gold frame on a black playfield, with deep red velvet curtains pulled back behind them and lit warm from the wings. It reads as a stage, and the little sparkle glints that pop off the frame corners sell that idea well enough.

None of the art is new. Endorphina has run this exact fruit set across a stack of its classic titles, and the New Year angle here amounts to a number and some curtains. Bright, clean, legible at any bet size, and completely familiar.

Low volatility means here what it usually means. Small wins land often, plenty of them worth less than the spin that produced them, and the balance slides down in a slow straight line instead of falling off a cliff. Nothing accumulates between spins. No meter, no counter, no scatter tally creeping toward a number, so each spin resolves and the next one starts from scratch.

Which puts all the tension in the gamble. It's the only decision available, and running a 40x win through four straight doubles is the closest a session gets to a story (the ace turns up eventually, it always does). Skip it and the loop is just fruit going past.

Ten lines at ten cents buys a long stretch of spins for very little. That's the appeal or the problem, depending on the day and probably on how patient you are.

Judged as a ten-line fruit machine with one good trick, it works. The expanding jester is a proper hook, two paying scatters keep the hit rate healthy, and 96.05% is normal territory for the studio.

The trouble starts around the ten-minute mark, when it becomes clear that nothing is ever going to change. No second gear, no round to chase, just the same grid and a gamble lifted straight from every other Endorphina classic. The annual Hit Slot run was never about depth, and 2024 is one of the leaner entries in it. The unpublished max win doesn't help the case either.
