An elf princess in a fairy-lit Irish forest, and a gold coin that fires a rainbow straight across the reels. The coin is the game.

The frame around it is plain enough: 5 reels, 4 rows, 20 fixed lines, three matching symbols and up. What is less plain is that lines score in both directions, left to right and right to left, so a five-of-a-kind gets paid twice on the same line. That is not the windfall it sounds like. It mostly means the small wins arrive more often, which is why something pays on roughly 46% of spins.

Evoplay put it out for the St Patrick's stretch of 2021 and leaned the whole design on one event. A coin lands, spins on its axis, and the unicorn stamped on its face points its horn somewhere on the grid. A rainbow shoots off in that direction and everything it crosses locks in as a sticky wild.

Ellen sits on an oversized clover to the left of the reels, red hair down past her shoulders, pointed ears, a shamrock pinned above one of them, red coat over a green dress and laced thigh boots. She does nothing at all. Behind her the forest glows teal and blue with fireflies drifting through it, and the grid sits inside a carved tree arch whose branches curl into scrollwork, with fat purple bell flowers hanging over the top right corner.

The symbol set splits hard. Low pays are curled parchment scrolls with ornate letters on them, red 10, blue K, green Q, purple J, orange A, and they fill most of the grid most of the time. The picture symbols are the good ones: a golden horseshoe set with emeralds, teal dice with pink pips, a brass pipe with a green leaf still on it, a hanging lantern. The wild is a pot of gold with W, I, L and D stamped across four spilling coins, and the scatter is a four-leaf clover with FREE SPINS lettered on it. Standard Irish luck kit, drawn a cut above standard. The rainbow is what sells it, a soft prismatic beam that cuts diagonally over the reels and leaves the symbols under it glowing.

Busy, not tense. Something pays on close to half the spins and the coin drops in often enough that the base game always has a small event on the horizon, so it never goes quiet the way a 20-line slot usually does. What it also never does is feel dangerous. Most of what lands is change, a pair of royals paying a fraction of the stake from each end, a horseshoe run that gets you back to roughly where you started.

Free spins are the one place the temperature moves. Wilds stay put and the board wipes around them, so by the fifth or sixth spin a good round has the grid half locked and the wins finally stop being pocket money. A bad round is the coin skipping three spins in a row while you count down from seven.

Played at small stakes over a long stretch it behaves like a medium-volatility grinder with one good trick, which is probably the honest way to approach it. Just do not sit down expecting the swings a 1,000x-plus banner suggests (and yes, the game does flash one) because the maths behind it is a lot gentler than the animation.

The coin idea is a good one. It is well animated, it fires often, and the horn direction gives a bit of shape to what would otherwise be a straight sticky-wild respin. It also does enough to separate this from the wall of leprechaun slots that share its pot of gold.

Everything around it is ordinary. Twenty fixed lines, royals in scroll clothing, seven free spins, and a ceiling no amount of stacked wilds will push past. The both-ways scoring is the quiet highlight, less for the doubled five-of-a-kinds than for how much it smooths the base game out. Load it for the rainbow and the art, not for the maths.
