Five breeds carry the paytable, each painted into its own little backdrop, a black stallion in grey mountain mist, a white one against snow, a chestnut standing in summer grass, and a Mongolian warrior sits above them all at 500x for five. The idea worth loading it for lives in the free games, where a single symbol gets singled out and grows tall enough to fill an entire reel.

Everything else is 2015 in a good mood. Ten adjustable lines on a 5x3 grid, 96.05% RTP, high volatility, stakes running from 0.10 to 45. The whole game sits inside one long golden hour. Ochre dunes roll along both edges of the grid, a few horses graze in the left distance, and a felt ger with a spear planted beside it holds the right side, all under a sky that never stops being sunset. The reels are parchment panels set in a carved wooden frame with small gold corner filigree, which suits the steppe setting far better than the glossy coloured card royals do. Green J, red A, a pink 10: they look pasted in from a different game.

The character art is where the money went. The warrior has long loose hair, a full beard and a tattooed shoulder; the woman wears a coral robe and a pearl headdress, smiling out of a red-bordered frame with flowers behind her. Wins are presented nicely too, with everything outside the paying line draining to sepia while the winning symbols stay lit and outlined in gold. The sound is ambience rather than a score, and the art shows its decade in places, but the mood holds.

Ten lines on a five-reel grid sets the tempo, and the tempo is patient. Base spins mostly hand back royals worth a fraction of the stake, the balance drifts down in small steps, and there is nothing to collect or fill along the way. You are hunting three scatters. That is the base game, all of it.

What is unusual is that the bonus holds a second lottery inside it. Ten free games with the warrior chosen plays nothing like ten free games with the 10s chosen, and you learn which one you got before the first spin even resolves. The tension sits right there, and it is also why the round can land flat: a low-value pick with an unhelpful spread of symbols burns through all ten spins for pocket change. Bonus Pop deletes that coin flip, which probably explains why it is the button most players reach for.

The 5,000x ceiling is a long way from any of this. It wants the top symbol expanded across most of the grid at once, and high volatility means the road there runs through plenty of nothing.

Endorphina had a good idea in 2015 and mostly stayed out of its way. Picking your own expanding symbol rather than accepting whatever the game deals is a piece of agency plenty of newer slots still do not give you, and the non-adjacent payment rule gives the free games more reach than a 10-line slot usually gets.

The frame around it is a decade old and looks it. No ante bet, no multiplier ladder, no second feature to break up the base game. For my money the artwork and the Bonus Pop decision carry this further than the maths does. The 2022 sequel, Archery Competition, threw out the expanding symbols for a target-shooting bonus, so it is a separate game rather than a continuation of this one.
