Nitropolis 2 is the sequel that added the most to the formula. The 6x4 main grid now sits below a Nitro Booster row - a separate reel that stops first and assigns features before the main spin resolves. Eight different features can land up there, six affecting Nitro Reels and two affecting the main grid. That's a lot of moving parts, and the game doesn't ease you into them.
Base ways start at 15,625 (up from 4,096 in the original because of the extra Booster row). With Nitro Reels active, that ceiling stretches to 191 million ways. The math on paper looks absurd. In practice, peak way counts happen rarely but the mid-range boost from two or three active Nitro Reels is common enough to drive the payout structure.
The six Nitro Reel features target the oversized symbols directly. Nitro Wild fills a Nitro Reel with wilds. Nitro Match forces a Nitro Reel to copy an adjacent symbol. Nitro Upgrade increases a Nitro Reel's size. The "All" variants (All Wild, All Match, All Premium) hit every Nitro Reel at once - landing one of these during a stacked board creates the biggest moments.
The two main reel features matter just as much. Both Ways makes wins pay left-to-right and right-to-left simultaneously, effectively doubling active paylines. Respin locks Nitro Reels, wilds, and bonus symbols, then drops fresh symbols everywhere else. Getting both in the same round is the scenario the game is built around.
Three bonus symbols trigger 10 free spins (25 max with six scatters). All Nitro Reels lock for the remainder of the round, same as the original. Retriggering adds more spins. The X-iter menu offers five buy options: 5x for guaranteed wins, 25x for three spins of full Nitro Booster, 100x for standard bonus entry, 200x for Super Bonus with at least 15 spins, and 500x for Max Nitro with 12 locked Nitro Reels from the start.
The 500x buy is the aggressive option - starting with maximum Nitro Reels means the way count is enormous from spin one. But at 95% RTP (down from 96.1% in the original), the math is tighter. The 10,000x cap means the game can't deliver the extreme peaks that Nitropolis 4 later offered at 50,000x.
Nitropolis 2 sits in a specific spot in the series timeline. It's more complex than the clean original but less feature-stuffed than entries 4 and 5. The Nitro Booster is the defining addition, and ELK kept iterating on it through every sequel. If you want the version where that mechanic had room to breathe without competing against Boss Battles and Holding Cells, this is it.
